The reason why bicycle races are worth so many points.

wow it’s a very big …..point..
agreed — this is hideous.

Thirded. Even failblog, where human misery is enjoyed so enthousiastically, put this behind a link this back in 2008: http://failblog.org/2008/06/03/tour-de-fail/
Good to see that verydemotivational has lowered the bar for the cheezburger network yet again by putting this retarded submission front and center. Thanks, guys.
“R.I.P. – Alejandro Alvarez – May you win in heaven.” QFT.
Just checking, right? Nope, real tragedies are still not funny. To save you from further trouble, use the South Park directive: A tragedy takes 25 years to become funny. Try again in, like, 2033 or so. If you’re really impatient, I have read somewhere that 1985 was a year of airplane crashes, killing thousands of people worldwide.
Yes, because we all know it’s funnier to laugh at death and tragedy at a predertermined time.
You’re all idiots.
Seconded. >:( This made my stomach turn.
STFU. I can’t fathom how so many people get offended and yet still return to the same site that offends them.
If you can’t look at anything in a light hearted manor, get out.
Maybe that person lives in a serious manor!
@ II A light-hearted manor? What’s that look like? Oh wait, you probably meant “manner.” My bad
or maybe she actually did mean manor! *snooty butler voice* “Welcome to Serious Manor. May I take your coat, sir?” lol
“No you may not. Seriously.”

I’m sure the actual accident wasn’t as amusing as the picture makes it. I’ll be mad honest, I kind of laughed when I first saw it, especially because of the captions. But that’s….kind of…..harsh. Don’t completely blame the site though, the content is driven by the users who upload this stuff.
Is this picture for real, or is it a fabrication? If it is for real, it is not an “accident”. Either way it is truly appalling.
Just to say this, though many people will probably disagree.
I don’t personally care if someone got killed there. Of course, I understand that it’s against the norms of a site like this, but I don’t feel somehow insulted or disturbed by this picture. I’ve never got the people who can almost feel sick when seeing something like this knowing someone died there. But, since this incident doesn’t have any relation to me, I don’t feel any compassion for it.
In my opinion, the people starting to blame this site and almost get enraged (sorry for not being able to come up with a better word right now) by this picture are a bit weird, as they have relation to this picture, either. It’s still just a picture. The exact same thing you could see in a movie. No one would go saying things like that if this was a movie scene, as no one really would’ve gotten hurt. But, right now, it’s the same thing. Too bad the poor biker died, yes, but that is an unfortunate matter that shouldn’t take the fun away from a picture that can be humorous with a witty caption.
The difference is, in movies, real lives aren’t lost. How do you know that one of us didn’t have a loved one in that picture? Or had a friend or family member be killed in a similar way?
True. Real lives aren’t lost in movies. Though, they’re made to look quite realistic. People a while back would think that when people die in the movies they’d die for real, because it looks so real. Yet, in the movies, it’s entertainment. In real life, it’s sick and disgusting. What’s the real difference between seeing a man’s head fall off in a movie and seeing the same thing on a real tape, filmed when the man’s head actually fell off?
There is no real difference, but the life-part. That’s just a mental thing people have. It is as shocking to a young child to see it in a movie for the first time as it is to see it on a tape where someone actually died. I’m not saying that there’d be something faulty in the society when violence is being shown to people. Personally I hate people who go babbling about that destroying the youth.
Anyway. My point was, it is practically the same. No one should really get upset about a picture like this.
And, well, the chances of someone here actually knowing anyone in that crash are next to none. They could’ve known someone who died the same way, yes. Then they can just scroll down and ignore the picture.
And, well, no one would mind this particular picture if there’d be a miraculous thing happening, and no one getting hurt in that crash. Well, someone did die, well, why should it change the way people react to the picture?
exactly, there are most likely a lot of pictures of osama bin laden with witty captions that people still find funny. sometimes a bit of humor can even make a trdgedy seem less terrifying. example:a picture of a very happy small child with the caption ‘YAY! MICHAEL JACKSON’S DEAD! I DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT GETTING RAPED ANYMORE!’.actually, that example was absoloutly TERRIBLE. ah well, you get the point right? right? RIGHT? anyone? whatever.
Ok so Humm if i put you in a movie and “stabbed” you it would be fine of course. It didn’t happen for real. But what if offset I took a real knife and shoved between your ribs? It’s still ok, right?
Wow, way to sound like a sociopath for the cause. Honestly, just because one person expresses the apathy expressed by thousands, you feel the need to become violent? What’s the difference between not caring about this picture and a woman being stabbed in the street and all her neighbors just ignoring it because “they don’t want to get involved”? Apathy is apathy is apathy. If you hate it then just don’t be apathetic, but threatening another person only shows YOUR lack of intelligence, not your ability to change minds.
Agreed.
You do realize that the inability to empathize is one of the markers of a sociopath, right?
Admittedly, the entire premise of this site came from de-motivational posters which, by definition, are marketed to a highly cynical group with a (perhaps more than) healthy appreciation for gallows humor, but disregarding loss of life as having any bearing on how something ought to be received isn’t socially acceptable, nor should it be.
Whether or not you are capable of discerning a difference yourself, there is enough of a difference between fictional death and actual killing that laws currently exist that prevent footage of the latter from being aired as part of any entertainment piece. Those same laws also restrict what can be shown as part of news coverage of wars and political conflict in other countries.
Incidentally, the point of view you express is exactly why psychologists and sociologists claim that ultra violent media is destroying the youth. Way to prove the point.
Not cool. I’m dropping this site from my RSS feeds.
Aww, we’re so incredibly sad to see you go. lol
lolll you lame lame person
It’s ok to have compassion
I drive 100,000 miles a year. I am perfectly willing to share the road with bicycles. Once they obey the rules. In just the last year, I had a bike call the cops on me because he was trying to pass all traffic on the right & I made a legal right turn. The cops did not arrest him, so I guess I can pass everything with my truck & if I take someone out I skate too – right? I had a bicycle force me off the sidewalk. Americans are sick & tired of yuppie jerks who think the rules don’t apply to them – you bicyclists want respect, don’t pick & choose the rules to follow. Alternatively, keep your toys off the roads, people are trying to make a living out there. I think this is hilarious, only sad part is it doesn’t happen more often.
Your f&&king retard. Do you know anyone who rides a bike??
If you have a bicycle on your right, you don’t have the right to run over him in order to make a right turn. It doesn’t make any difference if traffic is slow and he is passing cars. The person on the bike has a right to be on the road. If you hit him under these circumstances, it’s legally the same as making a right turn from the left lane and hitting a car in the right lane. Ask a cop if you don’t believe me.
I know that cyclists can slow you down. I know that some bike riders can do stupid things, and that some of us break traffic laws casually. But please just try to think about what it means to be on a twenty pound bike when someone runs their truck into you. I have been hit twice by drivers making this maneuver. Just slow down enough to allow the bike to pass, then make the turn. It’s a half-second delay for you, but it can be life or death to the cyclist.
By the way, I follow traffic laws to the letter…I don’t run lights, I signal every turn, and I yield when other traffic has the right of way.
“It doesn’t make any difference if traffic is slow and he is passing cars.”
Now passing traffic up the inside is not only highly dangerous it is also illegal (in Australia at least).
As a truck driver I couldn’t agree more with NorthWisc’s comments, cyclists only care about the road rules when it suits them.
At the end of the day is you’re stupid enough to want to play on the roads with cars and trucks then be prepared to end up under one when you get in their way, wether you have right of way or not.
That’s exactly the kind of mentality that causes the situation in the picture above.
“At the end of the day if you’re stupid enough to want to play on the roads with cars and trucks then be prepared to end up under one when you get in their way, whether you have right of way or not.”
Really? You are an ass, and it’s people like you who tick me off, and would even if I didn’t cycle. Have some damn compassion.
BTW, in America, passing on the right, between the car lane and the shoulder/ditch is not “through the inside” as you mentioned. The only danger there is if it’s a ditch, you could fall in. I’m also pretty sure it’s not illegal, but I could be wrong about that part.
Seriously, I love when there’s a group of 15-20 people riding bikes together and they choose to go through town. They’re usually single-file or in groups of two. They come to a four-way stop and all ride through as though they’re collectively one vehicle. So I have to sit at the stop sign and wait for all of them to pass illegally through the intersection. Then I make my turn and have to drive super slow because I can’t get around them due to oncoming traffic. So I can’t beat them to the next stop sign where it happens all over again. Did I mention that none of them stop at the stop signs? So instead of going home I catch up at a traffic light and ask one of them why they don’t stop at stop signs. The guy just laughs and nods like it’s his road only. Seriously, I can’t stand these db’s. Go outside of town and ride. Otherwise, though, this poster is not funny. It’s awful and anyone who thinks that people getting killed by a drunk driver is funny is an awful, rotten human being.
When we ride together we are safer as one vehicle. So when two cyclists side-by-side cross an intersection as one vehicle, is that okay with you, because they only have four wheels? Do tractor-trailers need to start and stop nine times to cross? How about a school bus? They have more than four wheels, and dozens of passengers. But thanks for sharing your story of road rage, entitlement, and passive-aggression. The cyclists laugh at you because they know it’s not YOUR road only.
Whether or not you’re riding together shouldn’t matter. You’re still on individual modes of transportation. Each person should have to stop at a stop sign, even if they’re “with the group”. If my family takes two cars to dinner, does that mean we can just drive through? We’re “with the group”, so by your standards, it seems okay.
You have the mentality of a 7 year old. Get back in your truck and stay off the internet with your rants.
this reminds me of good ol’ times when i was playing carmaggedon
It is good that we are able to see something funny within something tragic. If we removed all humour of this nature it would make the world a very small and inhibited place indeed. As for all you angry people out there I think you should spend more of your energy doing something useful rather than complaining about something so trivial as this.
The 28-year-old driver was apparently drunk and fell asleep when he crashed in the race, said police investigator Jose Alfredo Rodriguez. A photo taken by an official of the city showed cyclists and equipment launched high into the air by the collision.
Rodriguez said Juan Campos was charged with murder Alejandro Alvarez, 37, of Monterrey. Authorities said the wreck happened 15 minutes in the 34 kilometers (21 miles) race Sunday along a road between Baghdad and Playa Matamoros, across from Brownsville, Texas.
Campos said he is a U.S. citizen living in Brownsville. The USA Consulate could not immediately confirm that.
Why don’t we start posting some 911 shots of the planes crashing into the twin towers?
“Flying a Plane; You’re Doing It Wrong”
Wouldn’t that be just hilarious?
I actually think it would. Honestly. I very rarely actually laugh at these things, but I snickered imagining that in my head.
Would it not be accurate?
If we had less stiffs like you in our country we’d be better off.
GTFO.
Actually, yeah, I’d laugh. There’s a few things called “parody” and “satire” ever heard of them?
The image equivalent of the difference between parody/satire and plain conversation is what you wrote. shots of the planes crashing with captions of “doing it wrong” for the satirical version, and just the pictures sans captions for the plain version.
Nobody laughs at a joke without a punchline, it’s just a comment in poor taste. But with a punchline ((like a caption, satirical/parodical/sarcastic tone)) things are very funny.
Bill your a dumbass. Theres a little difference between the two.
There’s also a difference between your and you’re. Just saying…you really have no room to call him a dumbass.
Jason, I was being sarcastic, but really the only difference is the body count.
If a person can find the deaths of 1 or a few people funny a few thousand should have them rolling on the floor.
So my question to Jason and anyone else who finds this photo amusing, where do you personally set your limit on people dying being funny?
When it doesn’t make me smile.
Win.
I guess it’s not funny when someone goes peaceful in their sleep at the age of 92. Kinda boring really.
I hope I die in a way that make people laugh. If I do I don’t want you d-bags on here yelling at everyone laughing either.
me to. possibly from going deep sea diving while high…then punching a shark.
lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
Im sorry that someone died but I still LOL`d xD
Why are you sorry? Were you driving the car? No? Then don’t be sorry.
Death. It happens.
Humm and other – you MIGHT wanna get checked out. A lack of empathy is often attributed to Aspberger syndrome and autism, and it’s listed as one of the top ten signs of mental illness. There also is a connection to mental retardation. Sooo…
Nah, I’m fine.
There’s no blood on my shirt…
Yet.
So you’re making a link between disorders that center around processing too much data (and quite often found in genius+ IQs) and mental retardation? FYI, a “lack of empathy” can also be found in the majority of medical personnel.
I find my self not very empathetic as to what you think Dr. Phil.
No kidding. A lot of drivers are seriously ill.
+1 for the comment and +1 for your name. Made me chuckle.
YEAH!
…you really showed him!
“Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer and die.” – Mel Brooks
That’s when you know it’s funny. This is funny.
I lol’d and thats all I need to know
It’s really amazing stuff like this dosen’t happen more often where I live.
Bikers seem to think it’s a good idea to ride early in the morning on twisty, narrow back roads. I’m sure the ride is pretty and a nice workout, but cars just can’t see you till it’s almost to late!
Well the website is called verydemotivational. What did you expect?
I can gurantee you the person behind the wheel of that car was over 50, not because I took the picture or was there or because I heard anything about it though.
LOLZ HIGH SCORE!!! Also good to see car beats bike still.
C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C…..
Oh, and to the angry folks up there, it’s in the human nature to laugh at such things. We here in Northern Ireland and the rest of Britain are famous for it.
Doesn’t mean we don’t have any empathy.
I’d just like to say to the person that said people with Asperger’s Syndrome are retarded and lack empathy. You, sir, are quite profoundly, the retard here. Try getting to know someone who actually deals with this condition everyday like myself. And like the other person who responded to you before said, I have actually had a fully certified psychologist perform an I.Q. test on me and I tested 2 points below genius. And I also scored upper 99 percentile on the ASVAB test, beating out NHS students who others would say are mentally sound. Oh, and I also designed a machine for the RGMC in less than 5 minutes that would eventually end up winning in regional and state.
Oh, and by the way, I did laugh at this poster too. Not because I think people dieing is funny. But because of the irony of the event compared to the caption.
There, now we can stop arguing and start suggesting other hilarious content here.
:bows:
Thank you, Gentleman. Speaking as one who has Asperger’s myself, I could not agree more.
WOW..the butt-hurt comments of oversensitive yuppies are nearly as amusing as the picture itself (w/out captions). Death isn’t the funny part of this scenario. Granted, a certain modern desensitization against gore is needed to appreciate the humor here (not an indication of apathy, just practice in sympathizing with tragedy). In other words, it’s possible to get past the tragedy enough to get the giggle, unless you’re a cream-puff. EVERYONE who commented here knows the driver is a retard, and that he wasn’t REALLY trying for a multiplier bonus in a real-life version of some video game. That’s WHY it’s funny. We’re human, and we laugh at stupidity. It’s okay, because in doing so, we discourage such avoidable stupidity caused by carelessness and lack of thought overall. And yuppie cream-puff whiny babies, I laugh at YOU.
lol….I´m a cyclist, too. And the picture isn´t any funny…but with those captions…I just can´t hold myself and laugh my ass of cause they´re so damn hillarious.
So am I, and I love biking these narrow twisty roads.
I HATE bikers who give us bad names and ignore every single stop sign there is. I HATE death. But sometimes….you just have to laugh. It’s what keeps us human.
I laughed. You should have too or you will never make it in this life, being dragged down by all the bad things that happen all around us every day. The captions made it funny because it’s something that most of us have thought about anyways. I’m sorry for loss of life but that isn’t the point of this picture. So take a step back. For the love.
