    I honestly can’t think of a comment that isn’t Buffy-related.

  3. Where is the photo from? It seems too awesome to be a composite, but is it?

  4. timbenzidrene says:

Man, if they could smooth out the edges of that pit, they could make the ultimate coin vortex – you know, the kind you see in malls that make the coin roll around faster and faster and then disappear down the hole?
Just think – 14 hours after launching a quarter, it hits the bottom going a gagillion miles per hour!! (Hmmm……with something that size, maybe build a NASCAR track – the end of the race would be kick-ass!)

  5. paintedgrommit says:

the coin wouldnt melt it would reach terminal velocity and stop increasing in speed and then it would just be boring

    • timbenzidrene says:

OK, OK Capt Buzzkill….How about this??????
They build a few concrete disks, oh say, 10 stories tall and 20 feet thick – then build a contraption to launch them opposite directions. If they do it just right, there would be a spectacular crash at the bottom.

If we’re going to alleviate boredom using unrealistic scenarios, we might as well do it right.

  6. Congratulations on taking an old, unfunny meme and making it even more unfunny.

  7. txus1001 says:

    ammm… Guys… I really… REALLY don´t f***ing get this ++

    • The older than dirt joke is that you will supposedly make the universe implode if you try and divide a number by zero. If you do this on a calculator you will get an error, because you cannot divide by zero. This “joke” I guess “almost” divides by zero… so I guess that’s suppose to be funny.

        Ollie is angry.

I would be too if my name was Ollie.

        I love Ollie.

      • Emma says:

I do appreciate that unintended pun at the beginning of your comment,
        but look hon,
you cannot “almost” devide by zero.
you may almost devide by zero,
but please do not put quotation marks around the word when it is not needed?
        or the world may implode…
trrust me, it has happened before.

        • Donald Zerli, spelling nazi says:

          An astute observation.

Too bad this person doesn’t know how to spell “divide”.

          • Donald Zerli, spelling nazi says:

And who doesn’t know the definition of the word “pun”:

            Main Entry: 1pun
            Pronunciation: \ˈpən\
            Function: noun
Etymology: perhaps from Italian puntiglio fine point, quibble — more at punctilio
            Date: 1662

: the usually humorous use of a word in such a way as to suggest two or more of its meanings or the meaning of another word similar in sound

      • Anna Rexia says:

Admit it. You are terrified by mathematics and humour, and when someone combines the two, you wet yourself.

  8. Metalmeltdown says:

math fail….and old as crap joke

  9. James says:

    *Uses Typhon Summon*
    whoosh!
    *blows away last digit!*
    …makes it-”DIVIDE BY ZERO!

  10. Dr Techie says:

Real or shopped? If real, where?

    • Skyfire says:

That’s the Mir open pit diamond mine in Mirny, Russia.

      • Donald Zerli, spelling nazi says:

Hey, there’s water in the bottom…a fair amount of it.

This would make a spectacular ice skating rink when frozen. In Russia this would be most of the time.

        • Zoffix Znet says:

Russia frozen most of the time is as true as ignorant morons such as you comprising the entire population of the United States.

          • Donald Zerli, who just wants to be helpful says:

Mirny is in the Sakha Republic.

            From Wikipedia:
Sakha is known for its climate extremes, with the Verkhoyansk Range being the coldest area in the northern hemisphere. The Northern Hemisphere’s Pole of Cold is at Verkhoyansk, where the temperatures reached as low as −67.8 °C (−90 °F) in 1892, and at Oymyakon, where the temperatures reached as low as −67.7 °C (−89.9 °F) in 1933.

            * Average January temperature: −28 °C (−18.4 °F) (coast) to −47 °C (−52.6 °F) (Pole of Cold).
            * Average July temperature: +2 °C (35.6 °F) (coast) to +19 °C (66.2 °F) (central parts).

          • locus says:

Russia doesn’t need to be frozen most of the time for America to be full of ignorant morons..

        • Derkaderka says:

‘Hey, there’s water in the bottom… a fair amount of it.’

THATS WHAT SHE SED! :D lol

  11. Joo says:

    WHERE IS THIS?

I want to wiki it and read the article like the good nerd that I am.

  12. Xenon says:

See, dividing by .0000000000001 or whatever is equivalent to multiplying by about a billion or so.

So if you took all the money I have in my pocket–and divided by .0000000000001(or whatever)–you would roughly get the current US deficit!

    Isn’t math fun?

  13. Tim says:

    Mirny Diamond Mine, Russia

  14. Neal says:

Its real, if you look at what appears to be rings, that is actually roads for heavy equipment. It is a strip mine.

    • Lolzilla17 says:

dun dun duun dn dn na na … strip… lol

    • Anna Rexia says:

To put that into even greater perspective, each of those roads are able to handle two of those humongous dirt/ore haulers (one each direction). So, they’re at least 50 meters wide.

I still wonder where all the dirt was taken to, and what they plan to do with the site when they feel they’ve reached maximum potential output of the mine. It would make for one hell of a lake.

  15. Lunartic says:

I believe it’s actually a diamond mine, possibly near the town of Murni in Russia.

  16. Lunartic says:

    Oops. It’s Mirna, not Murni

  17. Lewis says:

That reminds me of a horror manga named Uzumaki, by Junji Ito.

  18. brostav says:

IF YOU DO DIVIDE BY ZERO THE NUMBER 8 looks like peter griffin stoned… 8|o

  19. mindmelda says:

Waiting for a “This is SPARTA!” comment. Okay, I just made one.

No wonder they say that mining is the most dangerous occupation. Scary looking workplace there.

  22. Rehash says:

    I don’t understand.

  23. Rehash says:

    I still don’t get it.

  24. Roger says:

Dude, try typing that into your calculator, and see what happens. Oh, it’s just going to reduce the number by 1e-10, or 10 orders of magnitude. Significant, yes, but it’s not going to cause a giant f***ing hole to appear! Smashing protons together, now that’s there the s**t is at. Go to school please.

  25. Nipur says:

    I think it’s a new Obama’s proyect.

  26. Ahrleen says:

    I really tried. I’m sorry. I don’t get it. :’(… I thought I was a math geek too…

    • NorthernTerror says:

He divided by something that was *almost* zero, but not quite. that making it the close call.
Dividing by 0 returns an undefined or infinity result, and happens sometimes in math-intensive rendering/modeling, resulting in program crashes, or corrupted/bizarre objects.

  27. tonic says:

all of you math geniuses out there …. dividing by a small number gives a big number. example : 1/10^-2 = 1/0.01 = 100

  28. Avenger[K] says:

    I can’t believe I read every single comment… But yeah, I love divide by 0 jokes. =]

  29. that was wierd says:

i read all the comments that moved from buffy to a coin rolling that turned to a black hole to crazy spartans kicking ppl to ur mothers official hole to ppl saying they have read all the comments from a divide by zero poster nice jop internet u make proud

  30. that was wierd says:

ya forgot the internet is a country\nation thing

  31. God says:

Y’know, last time I divided by zero it caused the Big Bang. Do you people REALLY want to risk it?

  32. Suddenly_Confused says:

What a fail, it’s a gold (or silver, or iron, or…) mine!!!!!!!!!!!!! thinking of that, I could make a much prettier version out of the Martha Mine in Waihi, New Zealand XD XD XD

    • Bear666 says:

Diamonds, what else besides bling would deserve that big of a hole, Just wait for Pebble Creek to get to full capacity and instead of the best salmon fishery on Earth we can have a hole just like it in Alaska mining the gold to go with them.

  37. Furball says:

Holy crap, it’s the Sarlacc! O.o

  38. Mart990 says:

    God’s latrine

  39. myself says:
