No, Latin pedants would know enough Latin to understand that the greek word for foot (pus) is unlikely to take a Latin pluralization. While pedes would be the correct Greek plural it’s not a Greek word either, so English gets to choose it’s own plural … octupuses.
And is that the luckiest octupus ever or what
Greek word for foot is πός. In the plural this is πόδες. Pedes is a Latin plural, and pus is a goo that comes from infections and zits. And I would take care, were I an English-speaker pretending to have some knowledge of Greek, to know that ‘eight’ is ὀκτώ-, not ὀκτύ-.

If this is a blue-ringed octopus like we have in Australia, then, yeah, it’s very poisonous. It’s one of the most poisonous creatures.
