  1. KK-the-Prophet says:

And I thought my family was bad.

  2. sidewinded says:

err thats a TNG uniform, reds dont die as much..

    • TheyCallMeTomu says:

So, you’re saying, despite that he’s wearing Red, because it alludes to the uniform of the Next Generation, it’s not that he’s part of the Red Shirt army?

    • bored of stupid nerds says:

We know its the next generation uniform but its still a funny caption! Stop over thinking things! It is so annoying when f***wits comment and take some of the fun out of an otherwise very funny poster

      • MW says:

When it comes to Star Trek, get it right, or get the f*** out. Red shirts in TNG are for Command – He’s the captain, not a target.

      • djkaiba says:

Hey, just wanted to say sorry we fans forced you to read our comments and that by reading these comments and having the truth realised made it ruin one picture on a site full of funny pictures. We had this crazy notion that a joke should be relevant to what it’s talking about. Our bad.

        • Carlos says:

          ^ This.

I wish that all you idiots who always comment about how nothing needs to make sense to be funny and that all posts are perfectly hilarious exactly as they are no matter how retarded would GTFO.

      • qatie, the over-thinker says:

If you enjoy it for what it is, then enjoy it without insulting others.

But actually, the people taking the fun out of it aren’t over-thinking the poster at all. If you REALLY over-think the poster, it becomes funny again. Either you can take the red shirt at its traditional face-value and think: These parents are singling one kid out as least favorite, or you can take it as a TNG sign of high command and think: These parents are singling one kid out as their special favorite. Either way, the humor of the caption remains relatively intact.

    • HitsugiChan says:

Yet the fake smile tells a completely different story. lol

    • Aaron Hong says:

That’s probably because the TNG red is called burgundy. Reds don’t live long enough to get onto the show.

  3. Alyssonx says:

Sorry dude, this is Star Trek:TNG! The boy is the captain!

    • Yakko Warner says:

Seriously; I’d be more afraid for the gold shirts.

    • AngelMax says:

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking… they’re wearing TNG uniforms, and red is the command color.

    • WeaponForge says:

Sorry, you need to not be Star Trek fans… I mean, there are so many other shows and Star Trek is as exciting as playing Halo.

      • djkaiba says:

You’re right….since we can only be fans of so many shows I guess we should stop being fans of certain ones. I’ll try to be more like you I promises! :3

  4. Blikk Terrible says:

You can REALLY tell which kid is unloved when he’s dressed as Wesley.

Anyway, I would’ve guessed that TNG would be more popular on this site than the original series.

  5. Steve says:

Thats what I was about to point out Alyssonx. Red uniforms were death in TOS, in TNG red was command. You’re more likely to die in a gold operational uniform in TNG.

  6. Blikk Terrible says:

Also, are BOTH the females supposed to be Troi? That’s lame. One of them could at least be the Crusher. Way to pigeonhole women as just being “empaths” who don’t even wear real uniforms.

    • BAW says:

Actually, the last few seasons, Troi did wear a normal uniform. Basically, she transitioned from being a psychologist who practiced on a starship to being a Starfleet officer whose specialty was psychology.

    • Nya-chan says:

I think the one is the back is supposed to be Lwaxana, and the one in front is Deanna.

      • BAW says:

Except Her Excellency, the Lady Luwaxana Troi, Daughter of the Fourth House, Keeper of the Nine Rings of Betazed, and Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Riix, was never a StarFleet officer, and therefore had no occasion to be wearing the uniform, even the modified one that her daughter wore in the early seasons.

  7. DragonFox says:

Unfortunately the red shirt cliche doesn’t apply to TNG uniforms.

  8. Joe says:

FAIL. Red shirts are command……the gold shirts are fodder in TNG.

  9. jes says:

Wow…even the comments are dorky on this one.

  10. Casprd says:

Did it ever occur to you that the comment is talking about loving the other three children less than the red shirted kid? as in “our child in the red uniform is going to grow up to be a leader while the other three aren’t going to amount to anything, especially the girl who will be the 21st century equivalent of a cheerleader in space.

    • FoozBall says:

I can see where you’re comming from there. But you can’t single the red guy out then immediately say some children are loved less than others. He coulda sad loved more than others and you’d be right. Or children aren’t all loved equally and we’d both be right! I commend you for your efforts though.

  11. kdove says:

casprd just owned all of you LOL

  12. Tiffany says:

lol! You guys really have to be creative to come up with some of these captions!

  13. ryan says:

can i hear dork anyone? ps he looks kinda hot lolz idk if he dies i want….HIM!!! = )

  14. :D says:

I know nothing of star trek, I can not compute this blasphemy

  15. ladyofargonne says:

It look like the girl and the guy in red are the mom’s. The older boy is the dad’s. And the little guy is theirs.

  16. djkaiba says:

Yea this really is fail. As far as I know there was really no shirt color singled out over the others in this one. Everyone keeps saying gold but what about Data and Laforge? They were gold.

    • The Unforlorn says:

Yeah, but Scotty wore red in TOS. Rule of thumb is that main cast don’t die. Unless they ask for a bigger role and end up killed by black slime in season 1…

    • Pueblo says:

      Tasha Yarr was gold, too.

    • dragonrider67432 says:

technically they have both died at points in the show but were brought back by various devices including the Q lol plus they are main characters so cant stay dead lol

    • D says:

In TOS, gold was command (like Kirk), blue was a science officer (Spock, or anyone in medical, or Sulu when he was originally supposed to be ship’s mathematician), and red was enlisted (such as Scotty, Yeoman Rand, or anyone on security). In TNG, red was command (like Picard or Riker), blue was still science/medical (such as Crusher, both Beverly and Wesley, or Deanna Troi), and gold was supposed to be for the enlisteds, such as O’Brien, or security, such as Tasha Yar, or engineering, which includes Data and Geordi. It’s not supposed to be so much who was marked for death, but rather what their station is.

  17. ryan says:

i repeat can i hear dork?? i think we have a treky on our hands???

    • trekkie47 says:

Ith thpelled T-R-E-K-K-I-E, thank you very much!

No, if you’ll excuthe me, I have some Mithtery Thienth Theater to watch!

  18. The Amazing Rando says:

Oh who cares if it’s TNG uniforms? The joke is still funny! And if a funny poster has been ruined for you by such a technicality, then I’m very disappointed in all of you.

  19. rogue says:

Its not funny if its doesn’t make sense. Its like using a photo of a baseball game for a joke about tennis. They may both be sports, but…

  20. Junk says:

    I know I’m a nerd, BUT.

These look like TNG uniforms. Red in TNG indicate command staff. So if anything, they love that child more.

  21. Aideen says:

The girl in the catsuit should phone social services…

  22. wizpip says:

You big bunch of geeks and your “It’s TNG, he’s safe” comments. I love it!

  23. Josh says:

I don’t like Star Trek, so I don’t get it.

    • djkaiba says:

If you’re wanting an explination (which I assume is why you posted saying you don’t get it) basically in the original Star Trek (not the ones these people are portraying) those wearing red uniforms were typicaly Security and sent down to help explore planets. As such they were typically the ones killed off the most. That’s the origin of the red shirt joke

  24. Chrissie says:

Both the females would be empaths because it’s a racial trait. I’m amusing the daughter and the older boy are her’s while the middle child belongs to the father. I think the “red shirt” belongs to both adults. On the flip side, if my dad told me to wear a cat suit I’d kick him in the balls then call the cops.

  25. Linn says:

would be true if the family was wearing TOS uniforms… TNG not so much.

  26. frank says:

am i the only one around here, that want to bang that girl in blue at the front?

  27. Adro says:

The red uniform curse only applies to original series. These are clearly TNG fans!

  28. Chris Hansen says:

Hey Frank, why don’t you have a seat over there?

  29. tacky says:

Wow, you guys smeared geek all over this one didn’t you? TNG or not, it’s hilarious. It’s even funnier if you look closely for family resemblances. The red shirt doesn’t look much like anyone but mom IMO.

  30. Gunny says:

Wonder if I can get my kids to take a family pic wearing coats of a brownish color… At least the pants aren’t all tight, and we won’t look AS geekish.

  31. OMGOMGOMG says:

Aaaand i just think the the girl is hot :o

  32. Chucktavius says:

Yeah…in TNG Red Shirts don’t die all that often. It’s the Gold and Blue dudes who die on the away missions.

I wish my family had a picture like this.

  33. Red Shirt Is Command says:

I dunno who’s dumber: The idiot who can’t tell the difference between Classic & TNG uniforms, or the idiots who voted this up.

    • AuroraStarW says:

The thing about people who are not hopelessly obsessed trekkies (like me and, apparently, you) is that they don’t KNOW little things like that. The red-shirt-bites-the-dust joke is classic no matter which series you’re in, in fact Ds9 had a tradition that at least one redshirt died dramatically in every battle. (they were phasered directly in front of the camera usually, although during a fight with the Klingons one went spectacularly over the promenade railing) So there’s no need to beat up on the caption, it’s funny even if not completely, tecnically accurate.

  34. jenwilly says:

I can see some dorky Tolkein-Obscessed family doing a LOTR family portrait; dad would be Aragorn, mom would be Arwen, the little kids would be hobbits, Grampa can be Galdalf, Fat Uncle Joe could be Gimli, and the family tranny/metrosexual could play Legolas!

  35. G. James says:

How about how the youngest doesn’t get a communicator badge? Nor the father!

  36. Remembers says:

This is how an old star trek episode typically starts:
    exterior, day:
Kirk, Spock, Bones and the human sacrifice stop sparkling.
Kirk says something about the planet
Spock says something unflattering about the planet
    Uhura says “Captain!”
Something zaps the “extra” and leaves.
Bones checks his/her vitals, looks up and says “He’s dead, Jim!”
    Cue the Star Trek theme:
    “Space, the final frontier…”

  37. johnbain says:

oh come on! He’s operations not security, the yelows however… not as lucky.

  38. djkaiba says:

For all of you who are saying this is funny regardless of the fact that the caption is referencing a joke not used in this series, read some of the other posts. If you think of it in the fact that it’s TNG you see the red is leaders and there are only two gold shirts so they could be Data (the pale kid) and your choice for the other. The point we fans are trying to make is that each kid has a uniform that can’t really be dissed on (unless, as some of you did, you think of the red as being Wesley). Someone comented earlier on that the caption is funny regardless of the picture. Are you guys listening to your posts? Seriously? Sounds to me like you’re saying that “As long as it is posted on very demotivational it HAS to be funny.”

  39. Lisa says:

All of your comments made me smile :D It’s the whole “Get your facts straight ahshdhajda” xD You’re all pretty damn cool.

Plus, yes, where the fawk are the communicator badges on pappa and lil boy? owo

    Btw, I think TOS Colours/Uniforms looked a lot more sharp/cool. ;D

    x x x x x x xx

  40. Basara549 says:

Or, if you wanted to get really wacky – if that’s Riker’s red uniform instead of Picard’s, does that mean he’s banging his sister that’s posing in front?

And, more women in TNG wore a dress than just Troi. I seem to remember one or both doctors wearing a similar dress at various points.

  41. Steph says:

The one in red kinda looks like a younger afroless Ray Toro (Guitarist from My Chemical Romance)

  42. jen says:

    that will take some therapy

  43. Gonzo says:

Am I the only one who wonders how four white kids come from a mixed-race couple?

  44. Lady in Red says:

Starfleet Security: The Few, The Proud, The Expendable!!!
    http://www.cafepress.com/redshirt5.9584223
    I’m buying one!

  45. Preece says:

The mom in the purple dress FTW!

  46. Drat says:

So what color shirt did Yoda wear?
