I’d Hire PC…because there and billions of free applications on PC you can download and use…but there is only like 100 free for Mac, the rest you have to buy…or learn how to f***ing code and develop your own program to just convert a damn WMV file into DIVX…
NEVERTHELESS… When you’re applying for a job, the hirers look for people who are ready for it. Unfortunately, being casual doesn’t get it… -shrugs- THAT’S what they mean by the ‘truth’
Yeah. If had used a Mac, he’d be much, much sadder.
Seriously though, ask any business that doesn’t have to do with illegal distribution of MP3 files and they’ll go with PC.
Yeah, and there are also billions of virus for your lovely PC, as well. You might hire the PC guy until he opens his mouth and proves himself an idiot.
But he won’t perform as well, will complain that he just can’t do some of the things you’re asking him to, and he’ll ask for really high raises every time you tell him he’s not doing his job well enough.
And demand to be paid more for doing the same job.
And his slightly-better brother comes by and asks for a job every few months, but if you want to hire him, you’ll have to pay even more than you initially did for Mac.
And BTW, the thing about Macs not getting viruses? Its a myth. It may have been true once, but only because the vast majority of people use PCs, so hackers made their viruses to effect PC operating systems, but with more Macs in use, they soon started making viruses for Mac as well.
Actually no, the reason Macs don’t get viruses is because they run on a Unix architecture and the people who write the viruses usually write them on some sort of Unix or GNU/Linux machine and don’t want to chance infecting themselves.
You are a dummy. The first wide spread virus/worm was on unix. Being based on(or being) unix does not equal secure. You machine is as secure as your user, stupid users click yes to anything and then boom your infected. The reality is the average mac user is so detached from the workings of the computer they wouldn’t even know how to identify they had a virus. Macs are no better off or more secure then windows based users. Dummys will always make dumb decisions about security.
Good thing I am in that 10% who do actually have Anti-virus.
Also on Snow leopard the changes of getting a virus are slimmer than that to Windows 7, the easiest way to get a virus on a mac is through data transfers with the likes of portable hard drives and USB sticks as the pre-installed software does not detect this but is very good at detecting dodgy files from the Internet.
And It is known that there are fewer variations of viruses such as trojans for Macintosh than PC.
Apparently you’ve never written a program before… I really doubt someone smart enough to hack either of the major operating systems would be dumb enough to allow it to run on a computer he wanted to use later.
And I’d only hire the Mac guy if he showed up to work everyday with a half eaten apple glued to his forehead. Fact: At least a third of the cost of your iWhatever is you paying for the shiny white case with a picture of somebody’s leftovers on it.
No. No more.
STOP CALLING WINDOWS MACHINES “PCs”.
OSX runs on PCs, Linux runs on PCs, Windows runs on PCs.
Also, the thing about OSX, Linux, BSD, etc. being secure through obscurity is total lies. “Hackers” as you call them relish the challenge of compromising systems, regardless of how obscure they are.
Windows is inherently more vulnerable to viral attack, whether you like it or not. Stop spouting nonsense you’ve been told as gospel.
Thank. You. About time someone pointed that out. I wish people who don’t know anything about computers would hold back their stupid “Mac vs “PC”” comments.
My PC runs windows 7 and doesn’t get viruses or crash (I had 7 it since it came out), and I do use my machine extensively. (I sometimes visit fishy websites and can do stuff that uses a lot of resources).
I think Macs might be better out of the box (but they’re more expansive because you pay for the design, which is a waste of money in my opinion because I want a machine that is as powerful as it can get, not something that will make the corner of my room look pretty).
If you know what you’re doing, Windows is way better. Try upgrading hardware with a Mac and tell me if it still works as well as it did before.
I think those people who switch to Mac “because Windows crashes all the time, like 7 times a day and I lost my work so often I was about to get fired but then I discovered Mac and saved my job” just don’t know what a RAM upgrade is.
(True fact: I must know at least 100 people who prefer Mac and they don’t know how to upgrade anything besides plugging something in a USB port (and they’d be at loss if they had to install drivers from a CD) It’s just a fact, Mac is better when you don’t know how to upgrade but can’t compete well otherwise).
And by the way, I rarely experienced crashes with XP (again, know how and when to upgrade), and when I did, Windows ALWAYS recovered my work without losing a comma.
I will admit I skipped Vista (I had it by default on a cheap laptop I bought to take notes in class) because it sucked and I hated it. But XP wasn’t bad at all and Win 7 is 10 times better.
It may not compare to Linux though.
That’s the thing, Windows is a pain. You always have to know what you have to do, what to upgrade to, upgrade your hardware, update drivers all the time, etc.
With Macs things just…work.. I don’t have to care about nothing, I just turn it on and use it.
I use MacOS and Win7. In fact, I use Windows since Windows 3.1 and I can safely say the reason why Windows 7 is so good is because it mimics a lot of stuff Macs already were using in 2003.
Each has it’s advantages and disadvantages, but Macs have very less shortcomings (in ultimate analysis you can put Windows running on a Mac if you need to).
Also I don’t get how people say Macs are expensive. You can get a Mac for 500bucks. Remember: Macs don’t need to be so powerful to reach same level of stability. Unless you want to do some heavy duty work, you can get a Mac for cheap.
dude, i have had this xp since 2003 i think, i turned off automatic updates, and its still running like its outa the box. even with normal ones, you never update drivers unless you just got a brand new computer from 1997!! y would you want windows running on a mac, cus its better!! and you cannot upgrade the macbook or macbook pro or any of that cus they are laptops, therefor are insanely difficult to add/remove hardware. end of story now bye bye
Many good points, Mr. fanboy. I’ve used myriad computers and OS(es?) in my time (31 years and counting). However, I contend that a computer should be about as complicated as a microwave to the average user.
They’re purchased to help someone do work, not fiddle with RAM or update AVG every other day. Computers aren’t sexy, exciting, the bomb-diggity or crack-a-lackin’. They’re information appliances.
Power users can use whatever OS and computer we like because development and problem-solving is part of the fun. I got my first computer in 1979 – obviously not an Apple, since my dad bought it and was the DIY type (aerospace engineer). He was only amused with the ol’ TRS-80 Mark I for a few months then passed it to me. I had tons of fun learning to program in (old) BASIC without a manual or any instructions. It was awesome!
But let’s face facts – people who enjoy puttering around with their computers, or “know what [they're] doing” are in the minority. And yes, I’ve upgraded RAM on Macs, and they work great. It’s dead easy. Again, it comes back to your point of knowing what you’re doing.
Who cares what computer you use? This whole fanboy/girl thing for Mac/Windows/Linux is just silly, like arguing if Pepsi or Coke is better when they’re a couple of molecules from being identical. Use the one you like, have fun, and no, I will not fix your computer. At least not for free!
By the by, I’d hire the PC guy to be a traveling salesman or accountant, and the Mac guy to engineer and design software or do project management – at least, based on their attire.
The argument “if you know what you are doing, Windows is way better” is rather flawed.
I have a Windows PC which I use for word documents (which I tend to do more so on the Mac now a days) apart from that there is not much that it has to offer me. But I use my Mac for near enough everything else, yes the design is one factor in which I prefer it, but being a Media Student, I find the software that I am required to use is more readily available and runs a lot better on my Mac than my PC.
So I know what I am doing and through experience I believe my Mac is better at accommodating to my needs than my windows is.
All these arguments about which is better are just condescending remarks from people who are too stubborn to agree to disagree, people have different needs when it comes to computers and different OS’s cater to these in different ways
Tell that to your gods at apple. they’re the ones making commercials saying “I’m a mac” and “And I’m a PC”. Who cares anyway? If someone says PC they think of a windows machine, and macs are macs. What difference does it make?
The idea that Macs don’t get virus because there isn’t enough people using them is BS! Millions of people use Mac computers. 20,000 PC virus VS 80 Mac virus — maybe the real problem is how insecure and cheaply made the PC software and hardware is!
Same hardware. It’s an operating system bro, and the Mac OS fails. The whole “it’s better for artsy stuff” is the real myth. No way I would ever want to paint or render anything on a Mac. It would take me so much longer because it’s so much slower.
I agree. I am a game designer at a company and they force us to use macs. The os lags so horrible, and it crashes several times a day. I can’t even keep photoshop open for an extended period of time. And we are talking about a 1 month old $2600 macbook pro. My 3 year old custom built pc (which I am on right now) is so much faster, half the price and much faster. And if anyone wants to upgrade their mac? You’re s**t outta luck. ;3
To be honest, if you’re having problems like that on a new macbook pro you’ve done something to compromise the computer. I’m on the exact same computer and could probably run photoshop, after effects and final cut pro at the same time with just some lag because work is being done. If I want to upgrade my macs, I open them up and put in the new memory or hard drives I want, pretty simple.
As I recall, there used to be hardware differences. I’m not sure if that’s still true…but I can’t stand apple software. I don’t know why…I quit an education towards a profitable career in graphics arts because the school taught on macs.
Granted, I probably would have sucked in that field, but still.
Honestly it would depend on the job–I would never want the “PC” as a front man, one who deals with customers. “Mac” is far more charismatic and laid-back, and would better at dealing with customers directly. However, “PC” would be my first pick for a behind the scenes job.
I don’t know about that–as a photographer I have used both Mac and Window’s programs for photo-organization and editing–and the Mac programs have always come out on top in my opinion. But perhaps that’s just my personal preference.
I’ll admit that I’m not into gaming and that I’m not an incredibly tech savvy person, but with it’s media capabilities, seeming immunity to viruses, ease of upgrading, and it’s longevity (I’ve had my personal laptop four years and it is in almost perfect condition), the only reason I would go back to a Window’s platform is cost.
A quad Xeon is slower? That’s news to me. My Macs run Windows in a VM faster than any of our most expensive built-for-Win boxes. If what you’re doing is slower on a Mac you’re using the wrong software.
“Market share is a pretty good indicator of who hackers are going after,” said Kevin Haley, director at Symantec Security Response. “Hackers are motivated by money, so they want to get access to the most amount of people.”
Dumbf***! Maybe you should know what you’re talking about, Gary.
If that were true you would be able to name even one virus for the Mac. But since there aren’t any, you can’t. And it’s not because of market share either, that’s an idiot’s explanation for it.
Seems to me Mac’s have to constantly get updates to fix these holes in the security of the OS. The same as PC’s do…now go cry me a river cause I just ruined your little bubble world…
But your missing the point, Would you hire someone like Mac, All dirtied up And has’nt shaved, or a pro at office work even if it does get a few viruses?
Yeh I am a bit confused. I know this is originally from a Mac Vs Windows ( “PC”) Ad but I thought the question was also, which one would you hire.
I can’t say I prefer either computer OS, (Had a lot of trouble replacing parts with my mac, but also HATE windows) but I would definitely choose the Windows guy for my business over that Mac tool.
Nothing. Not one, nothing at all has ever been seen in the field. I have been a Macintosh systems administrator for 15 years and have been working with Macs since they came out in 1984. I have had to deal with exactly one infection and all that did was make copies of itself over the network. Your link does not impress anyone.
Inqtana.A worm, for one. Leap.A for another. I could link you to a list, if you’d like
You almost never hear about viruses targeting Mac OS because Apple is very good at downplaying them as minor threats (which most viruses targeting Windows are as well) and because Mac applications don’t share a common registry, and the browser isn’t integrated into the OS, making it harder for hostile software to gain root access, making it harder to design malware to to cause widespread damage. Most OSX malware targets specific software, or takes advantage of vulnerabilities common to both Mac and Windows software.
The argument that Macs get fewer viruses because fewer people use them is wrong, but so is the idea that they don’t get viruses. It’s simply that attacking OSX is more difficult than attacking Windows.
Maybe you need a refresher course on what a virus is. A virus is something that can infiltrate your system, break stuff, and REPLICATE, without asking your permission and while running in the background. The examples you gave are trojans, not viruses. They specifically require you to ALLOW them to access your system. They can’t do anything on their own.
Inqtana.A worm requires the user to accept a file transfer. It is incapable of infecting your system without your explicit permission. Furthermore, that was a proof of concept, was never in the wild, and OS X was patched against it a long time ago.
OSX.Leap.A requires the user’s permission to install. First you have to accept a file transfer, then explicitly ALLOW it to run. Again, it is absolutely incapable of infecting your system without your express permission. It relies on fooling the user, therefore it is a trojan.
Every system is vulnerable to trojans, including every form of unix, Linux and Windows, because trojans depend on YOU the user to give them access. They are not viruses.
@Xaqtly
nobody will argue that Windows based machines have and most likely will always have more attacks, due to usage popularity and overall market share/public usage. Many just as you stated are from clicking or accepting some bogus link or file. But you are incorrect that there are no viruses so here are a few things for ya to check out. And feel free to correct me…
~ http://www.cknow.com/cms/vtutor/virus-history-summary.html?page=1 here is a great rundown of viruses and the history. you will notice an abundance of Windows viruses, website attacks and MSN Messenger but to cut through and find the information and focus on Mac/Apple/Macintosh I did the leg work for you… all info cam from http://www.cknow.com unless noted.
page2 1988 1988 – MacMag, Scores, & Internet Worm
MacMag, a Hypercard stack virus on the Macintosh is generally considered the first Macintosh virus and the Scores virus was the source of the first major Macintosh outbreak. Apple malware was not limited to the Macintosh however.
This year, in June, saw the development of the Festering Hate Apple ProDOS virus.
The Internet Worm(Robert Morris’ creation in November) causes the first Internet crisis and shut down many computers. CERT is created to respond to such attacks.
Page 6 2004 SH/Renepo-A
….SH/Renepo-A showed up on Macintosh OS X systems. This is a shell script worm that installs itself to /System/Library/StartupItems and other sites and can make files on the system vulnerable to further exploitation…..
Page7 2006 OSX/Leap-A, OSX, Inqtana.A, OSX/Macarena, iAdware
OSX/Leap-A attacks the Macintosh OS/X system instead of Windows. The worm spreads via the iChat instant messaging system, forwarding itself as a file called LATESTPICS.TGZ to contacts on the infected users’ buddy list. The executable inside is disguised by a JPEG image icon to trick people into clicking on the executable file.
The very next day (17 Feb) another new Mac worm appeared: OSX/Inqtana.A. This is a proof-of-concept worm that uses a Bluetooth OBEX Push transfer to move between machines.
….OSX/Inqtana.A is a Java based proof of concept bluetooth worm that affects OSX 10.4 (Tiger) (from: http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/inqtana_a.shtml)
31 October saw the appearance of OSX/Macarena, the first infector of Macintosh OS X Mach-O files. Macarena was able to directly infect the program code and did not need to rely on a resource fork like Leap before it.
Late November saw the introduction of iAdware, the first spyware program for Mac OS X. It was proof-of-concept but indicates some attention is being given to the Macintosh platform
On 2 December there were reports of a Quicktime exploit affecting Myspace profiles. Called JS/Quickspace.A
Page8 2007 SB.Badbunny,
SB.Badbunny was reported out by Symantec on 7 June. The thing that makes this beast interesting is the fact that it’s spreads over multiple operating systems (including the Macintosh) using multiple languages (JavaScript on Windows, Ruby on the Mac, and Python on Linux) and OpenOffice macros while it attempts to spread via Instant Messaging.
1. macs are useless so no one bothers with viruses.
2. there have been many cases of viruses on macs, one so famious it got on the news, people lost total control of their comp and everything.
look it up rather than telling others to do it for you XD
when was the last time you ever heard of an actual “virus” taking hold and infecting more than 5 different computers since 2005? really answer me that… the so called hackers of yester year are no longer now they dont focus on causing mass destruction and making millions… now they work with the trojans and little worms that get separate users’ personal id then use that to their own benefit. the gov’ts of the world have caught hold of the so called virus world and have basically decimated it… so not my convo but if ya wanna continue it please do lol
“never hear about viruses targeting Mac OS because Apple is very good at downplaying them”
AHHHHHHHH HA HA are you frickin’ KIDDING ME? As soon as ONE exploit becomes available on Mac it’s in every blog and publication everywhere on the planet as if it’s the virus that’s finally going to take down Macintosh and turn the entire planet back to the Dark Ages and wipe out everything! What crap!
Macs just require a different method of “hacking”. All it’s going to take is one person figuring out how to break that code. And with Macs gaining (a little) popularity, there are going to be more and more people trying, and it’s only a matter of time.
Besides, Macs don’t need viruses. They crash and have enough problems on their own without them.
i have never heard of anyone using a Mac getting a virus, compared to about a billion PC’s getting virused up.. so yes that is true, they can get virus’s. Just never will…
I manage about 50 Macs for a fairly large corporation and run no antivirus software on any of them and never have the first issue. I sent a Mac laptop out to the field when I first started at the Helpdesk seven years ago and I just got it back last week, still running fine, just slow as f*** of course, I mean its 7 years old. Windows laptops last maybe eight months before they get so clusterf***ed they have to be sent back and reimaged.
Yeah, my mom uses a Dell (Windows XP) and she’s gotten three viruses in the past six months (I wish I was kidding, but I’m not). Her Dell desktop isn’t as old as my iBook G4 laptop, yet in all the time I’ve had my laptop I’ve never once had a virus. I’m sure part of the reason is that she uses Norton 360 anti-virus (which is terrible). Also, when running applications, her desktop and my laptop are equally as fast. The only difference in how fast the computers are is that my laptop has some trouble with YouTube, which is to be expected, considering that it’s about 5 years old.
The pc may not be ready to work first day of the job, but that’s to be expected. With a tad bit of training he is able to make the most of new technology, and able to adapt to whatevers current. With Mac, you get what’s in the resume, and nothing more. The college degree PROVES he knows what he needs to and PROVES he wants to get paid more for it, and he won’t need any job training. Without training, don’t be surprised that he can’t work as well as a PC. Also, his knowledge is to the extent of what he learned in college. If you want him to become adapted to new technology you have to pay for him to go to college again, which is far more expensieve than the training the pc would require. Admit it, macs are overpriced, planned for obselescence, and not all that powerful. They’re shiny enough to wow younguns and simple enough for old people (although i find it quite the contrary) Buy a mac if the price point is enough to make you feel content with your own laziness and stupidity (which is exactly what the problem with the world is)
Dude. It’s an argument about which type of computer is better, not an argument about the problem with America and the world’s laziness. Perspective man. It’s all a matter of opinion anyway and when opinions are involved no one will win.
Wanna know the **only** and I do mean **only** thing a Mac can’t do that a Winbox can do in a corporate environment?
Successfully maintain a calendar full of meetings for a VP-level executive. Because the Exchange client you can get right now sucks. In the fall, Outlook for Mac will be out and that will be that. There is *nothing* else you can do on a Winbox that you can’t do on a Mac; the only issue remaining is whether your users actually want to get used to the different UI.
I’d hire the PC, if I was looking for a stick-in-the-mud office drone. If I want actual innovation and creativity, I’d hire an actual human being, not a computer.
Honestly, computers are the most poorly designed pieces of crap technology in the world, while at the same time being the most powerful and most awesome. That said, they all have major flaws with none of them really cutting to be the clear winner, so ill definitely take my PC for the fact that i don’t want to pay 50% more for a shiny shell on my monitor…
Wrong. Most *Valve* games are being ported. All the rest of the game are written by other developers (who also mostly use DirectX instead of OpenGL, etc) and have 0 plans of porting their work over to OSX
Agreed. Most PC users just don’t know anything, and use the cheapest (besides Linux, obviously) and most familiar operating system available. The few PC *fans* out there very rabidly defend their choice of computer. The number of Mac users has increased too dramatically for them to feel any sort of individuality based on their choice of computer. The “Mac-Fanboy” species has been replaced almost entirely by the “College students, yuppies, and hipsters” species.
That’s like saying electronic ignitions are built for idiots. Smart people use hand cranks to start their engines, they don’t need all this useless hand-holding. Because if it’s easy to use, you’re a moron for using it. Right?
In the same vein, calculators are for idiots who can’t do all the math in their heads, lighters are for idiots who can’t make fire with a stick and a rock, and Windows is for idiots who don’t know how to do everything in DOS.
hey now… i used a hand crank to start my truck the other day because the battery had died… at least with windows all you usually have to do is go to google and type the issue in… lets see you do that on a mac that will not go past the little mac folder flashing with a questionmark…
Haha, f***ing guffaw. You try administering a marketing department that the VP insists on everyone having a Mac whether they need one or not. They are *not* idiot proof, because idiots **always** figure out a way. ALWAYS.
Just because someone wears a suit in an interview doesn’t mean he will wear it in the actual workplace, if the mac turned up to a job interview like that he certainly wouldn’t get the job over the guy with the suit. Clothes like that to an interview is just disrespectful to the company…
That depends rather heavily on the company and the job, don’t you think?
Not every employer is looking for a pretentious desk jockey. For instance, if I were to hire another programmer to give me a hand, having some old fart in a suit show up would worry me.
no, I work as a game tester, they like people to show up dressed nicely for the interviews there, not a full suit, but button up shirt , tie, belt, nice shoes. even if the dress code will be really casual, you should dress well above it for the interview
I work at a sports shoe store, and I can tell you for sure Mac would be getting hired over PC there. We’re interested in people with an active background, not – as you said – a pretentious desk jockey.
I have the same feeling as the manager of a Wal-mart in Oregon. I wouldn’t mind having Pc as my lawyer, but I would almost certainly want the Mac in any position where he has to do anything where processes change quickly, like on the floor where he could be asked anything and wouldn’t come running to me every time a customer broke protocol and asked a question he wasn’t programmed for.
I wore a suit to every job interview I ever had… they would tell me I was overqualified and give the job to some douche in a tank-top. Now that I own a business, I wouldn’t hire either of these archetypes; they have no class.
I have seen people look like they have just walked in off the street for an interview…strangely, I did not see them when I got hired after wearing shirt and tie to the interview for the same position.
Your definitions are wrong. Stop with the stupid argument. Even Apple Says Mac VS PC only when it directly relates to Apple VS Windows. PC has always, is, and will always be synonymous with Windows. Mac is NOT synonymous with PC.
I would hire based on the position. I myself used to hire techs (computer repair shop) that DID NOT show up in suits, as usually found the suits wanted more money and would not work based on “billable hours”.
Those who were more laid back tended to work best for my own style.
In its more general usage, a personal computer (PC) is a microcomputer designed for use by one person at a time. Prior to the PC, computers were designed for (and only affordable by) companies who attached terminals for multiple users to a single large computer whose resources were shared among all users. The advent of the era of the personal computer was acknowledged by Time magazine in 1982, when they broke with tradition by choosing the PC as their “Man of the Year.” By the late 1980s, technology advances made it feasible to build a small computer that an individual could own and use.
The term “PC” has been traditionally used to describe an “IBM-compatible” personal computer in contradistinction to an Apple Macintosh computer. The distinction is both technical and cultural and harkens back to the early years of personal computers, when IBM and Apple were the two major competitors. Originally, the “IBM-compatible” PC was one with an Intel microprocessor architecture and an operating system such as DOS or Windows that written to use that microprocessor. The Apple Macintosh uses a Motorola microprocessor architecture and a proprietary operating system. The “IBM-compatible” PC was associated with business and use, while the “Mac,” known for its more intuitive user interface, was associated with graphic design and desktop publishing. Although the distinctions have become less clear-cut in recent years, people often still categorize a personal computer as either a PC or a Mac.
Au contrare (I can’t spell in French T_T). Some businesses have to do with creative arts, but not all businesses do.
If an artist makes money, I should hope that they have had some business classes…otherwise they stand a very good chance of being exploited by people who do (who usually happen to be businesses).
If the two men actually behaved as depicted in the ads I’d hire the Mac dude in spite of the casual interview attire. When questioned the PC dude always starts to use some buzzwords (badly) and then fails to provide any actual knowledge. He usually sounds like he’s trying to BS his way through his answers without any confidence in his BS.
I’d rather have someone who can at least afford a suit who uses buzzwords badly than a cocky hobo who doesn’t realise how painfully inferior he is. Buzzwords are one thing, but the PC’s attempt at bull can’t hold a candle up to Mac’s blatant lying. “Oh no sir, I don’t crash or get viruses”.
The entire point of a Mac is a lie from the very start; it’s just a PC which can’t do much, so they decide to market it as something separate and blame the inferiorities on “Well, it’s not SUPPOSED to do any of the things you’d expect from a personal computer! We’re Macs, see?”
Personally, I’d hire the guy who can at least afford a suit than the cocky nobody who doesn’t realise how inferior he is. The PC might not sound too confident, but Mac doesn’t do anything but blatantly lie. “Viruses sir? Nope, I don’t get them. Do I crash? Never. Oh, why do I not do anything you’d expect from any half decent PC? Because I’m not a personal computer, I’m a mac! That’s completely different!”
It is after all a mac ad, so of course the pc guy sounds lame. The surprise is that so many people still seem to prefer the pc guy. That means the ad is failing. I myself would hire the pc guy. I am tired of employees with attitude. It is easier to loosen someone up than tighten them down. Plus none of the fiancial business programs we use work on the mac.
Tell me about the interview and then we’ll talk. I’ve hired before. Just because someone shows up in a suit, doesn’t mean they are at all professional or a good worker. Coming overdressed is just as bad as being under dressed. Tell me what I’m hiring for.
You’d pick the incompetent doofus because he likes to look professional. And with anyone, train them enough, let them practice, and they can become great:P
I’d hire the one on the right — and because the job would be Unix/Linux support, I’d be right. (Mac OS is Unix-based. Windows is… well, a little CP/M, a little OS/2, and a little VMS, all mutated almost beyond recognition.)
What’s that got to do with anything? If I’m hiring a programmer I couldn’t possibly give less of a f*** what platform he wants to develop in as long as the finished product runs on what I want it to and does what I want it to. And you can do that on *any* platform.
I don’t know about you, but I’d hire the Vault Dweller or Lone Wanderer in a heartbeat. The guy (or gal) is friggin’ unstoppable. Perfect hitman, mercenary, courier, scout, pretty much anything that involves killing things.
this is a dumb poster. i’d hire the pc guy if i wanted a guy like milton in the f***in’ office. and i’d hire the mac guy if it was basically any other job cause idk he’s normal?
and it’s funny you can play more games on a pc? it’s also funny that i’m on a macbook pro that i use for photoshop and graphic design and i still manage to do everything and more that all my pc friends do.. except play games. but that’s cause i actually go and hang with people versus spend my life playing world of warcraft or some s**t
Funny you should mention WoW, as I have it running beautifully on my mac. I can run it at the highest specs, rampage around in the crowded servers, use the… I suppose I am shooting myself in the foot, huh?
They’ve shipped with the new left-and-right-click mouse since 2005. You’ve been able to plug any USB mouse into them and use left, right, and center click and the scroll wheel since sometime in the 90s. That’s pre-OS X by the way.
Also who the hell always keeps the keyboard and mouse that come with the computer? That’s insane dude, the keyboard and mouse that come with our new Dells are massive s*ck and we throw them out and give our users real keyboards and mice.
Two finger click = right click on a trackpad on a macbook is SOOO much better than a two button mouse or two button trackpad, and I hope I NEVER have to go back. Took me a week or two to get used to it, and now when I have to help my PC using friends or family with things, I find myself cursing that damn two button mouse/trackpad the whole time I’m stuck on them.
because youre used to using a mac over whats standard.
also fact of life, change takes time to get accustomed to even if youre changing back to what you were once accustomed to.
finally, you like the 1 button mouse because of personal preference not because its superior in anyway shape or form. in all truth the keyboard is far faster than any mouse once you get used to it
The one with the competent portfolio. Since the guy in the suit can’t even boot up his computer and open the relevant programs without a soul crushing lag between them to create a competent portfolio, I’m gonna have to go with the brighter gamut, better organized and more concise Mac.
The PC guy (left) looks much more professional and more likely to be hired by a professional company. Mac (right) looks way too casual and laid back, and would not be hired. This is from a Mac ad.
Depends on what you’re hiring for. I own a tattoo studio, and the guy in the suit would probably make our customers feel uncomfortable. The Mac guy is laid back and reassuring The problem with that poster is hiring all about the context of the position you are hiring for.
The second one cause my place of business is a grocery store helping costomers with there groceries like bringing them to there car.But it would be wierd if i came out of the store and saw him coming out of the car with his pants unzipped (shudders)
The guy in the suit…until three months later, when his performance starts to slow down and he gives me cryptic reasons for not working and blames it on me while not telling me how I can fix it.
APPLE IS GAY, SELF-INVOLVED AND OVERPRICED! there i said it, f*** everyone who has an ipad and is not rich enough to buy it as an accesoire
\m/
please leemelone i”m drunk
Wait wait wait… what? I knew John Hodgeman was between advertising gigs, but, is he really reducing himself to working at local places of work?! That’s horrible. I feel so bad for him.
Only problem with this clip is that I mainly use my Linux machine for video editing (HD) and excel spreadsheets. So I don’t really get the point of it…
certain linux distros are able to play lots of games that are windows exclusive; certain ones also have the same video editing capabilities that mac has. its about doing the research and finding the one thats best for sort of like with all the new types of windows that they keep coming out with (except most linux distros aren’t just adding features for a higher mark up prices) and to my knowledge macs have a one size fits all operating system. dont crucify me if im wrong, just correct me and be done with it.
seriously? the second. We have a standing order that, apart from the senior executives (and even then only when meeting with politicians and other VIPs), we are not to wear suits to work.
I would hire mac, true sometimes a laid back person is just lazy, but sometimes its the genius that dresses the worst, sides the other one looks like a run of the mill office drone
the guy to the left looks like he is more expansive. but, he got more experience with office work, can handle almost every kind of printer, knows how to work when he have to obey a server, (win2k3, win2k8, and Linux). He also likes a good game now and then, and he knows A LOT of games.
However if i need someone that knows how to edit music, movies, photos etc. , or if i lust want to brag with my friends that i can hire him, i would hire the guy to the right. Keep i mind he has its price.
In the end, if i need my system up and running 24-7,or available every-time i require without a ton of bulls**t, i wouldn’t hire neither, i would hire Linux.
Always run into the “edit movies, music, and photos” argument for Macs… It just doesn’t make sense. Virtually no distinction in capability between Mac or Windows. Maya (3D rendering program used for most major motion pictures) runs identically on Windows machines and Mac machines. No differences in render accuracy or capability. Photoshop is just as good on either machine. Sound editing is just the same. No difference.
After doing all those things on many platforms, I know the choice of platform boils down to one thing, cost. Which the Windows machine will take the cake any day.
Open-ended question is open-ended. It depends entirely on where you work. You wouldn’t hire the Mac guy as a bank manager or w/e, and you’d be unlikely to hire the PC guy to work in a sports shop or at a Gym.
Hmmm interesting. You wouldn’t hire PC to work at your gym even though if you could get him in good shape you would have a great before and after story.
And, what about the office/accounting staff at the sports shop and/or gym? Do you really want a gym rat slacker doing your books?
PC guy all the way. He will always show up at least 5 minutes early to work, plans his vacation time in advance, rarely uses a sick day, organized and professional, remembers details throughout the week, and you’d have a much greater chance that PC guy is going to pass his drug screening.
Exactly. They should also stop calling the guy in the suit “PC” because every PC I have runs on Ubuntu, not windows. The only way Mac keeps any market is to keep a chokehold on a few high end applications, but even that won’t last forever.
Well the OS doesn’t cost hardly anything, unlike Microsoft which increases the OEM price of a box by what, $200? But the box itself, from Apple, whoof, how much you got, still ain’t enough.
There’s really very little difference between mac and pc….just do whatever you’re comfortable with and stop arguing about it. Personally I’d go with Linux….security and ease of use with a mac, but as customizable as a PC.
But seriously this debate is as old as the internets and it needs to stop. It’s like arguing over hair color or car brands.
The Mac guy…HANDS DOWN. Because my place of business is all Macs due to the better graphics ability (and before you say that PCs can use the same programs, I will remind you that Macs don’t get viruses or have near the issues PCs have, esp. in terms of crashing for no friggin reason…and I work on both systems so I know this, man). Mac guy would be more laid back, true, but he’d be more reliable by far.
also read above comments before posting. the no viruses and no crashing thing is a lie. all operating systems have that problem (even linux) because everyone is vulnerable. get used to it
^How to spot someone who’s fallen for Apple’s blatant lies.
“Viruses? Oh no, Macs don’t get them. Do they crash? Never. Why can’t they do the same stuff other PCs do? Well, because they’re NOT personal computers! The inability to do anything is just how we’re so ‘alternative’, it’s not an inferiority! It was never MEANT to do anything, that’s why it’s not a PC!”
Since I work in advertising, I’d rather have Mac. If I interviewed a graphic design or web designer and they came in a suit and tie, I’d tell them no right away.
People will get hired more if they are in a suit in 90 percent of jobs, just because your one job, or a few peoples ‘advertising’ or ‘creative’ jobs won’t hire them doesn’t mean he’s worse off.
This is a really stupid poster. By asking the question “which one would you hire”, you are making the assumption that in this photograph they are both dressed for an interview.
Why would you make that assumption? Are you an idiot? If you want the TRUTH, here it is: Justin Long is not dressed for an interview in this ad, nor is he portraying somebody who is looking for a job. If he were, he would be dressed differently. To assume otherwise indicates a distinct lack of common sense, to put it kindly.
Mac Guy for: pizza delivery, busboy, stocking shelves, mopping floors
PC Guy for: office work, finance, project management
Linux Guy for: warehousing, logistics, UFC Fighting…
i like your comment best of all the mac defenses. it doesnt belittle anyone and it doesnt make rash assumptions. i still stand by my anti-mac stance but you sir/madam havent done anything wrong by me.
Apple II was the original PC. But not all Macs are PCs- if they’re used in corporate settings, they’re not personal. And not all Dells are PCs. Not all HPs are PCs. But I love my HP- we have a very personal relationship.
Yeah and American Idol is the most popular show on TV and Nickelback sells a bazillion CDs but you couldn’t pay me to pay attention to either one of them.
Anyone else think its funny that in only 2 days this attracted 242 comments from /b/tards who have argued over this photo hundreds of times already in the at least 2 years since this picture came out on 4chan?
Maybe, just maybe, hackers don’t make a lot of viruses for macs because they just feel so sorry that the owner got screwed into buying one in the first place. Yea, definitely. Lmao.
Depends on the job. Regardless, at the very least Mac looks like someone who likes to go out and have fun, and not battle the OS having to debug some friggin’ problem every time it starts up while you go get coffee because it takes 6 minutes for even firefox to load.
The PC guy looks like he types at a computer, stares at the clock, punches out, then goes home and watches MSNBC or Fox Business until he falls asleep on the couch and does it again.
This is from a guy who wishes he could take every hipster douche, shove them in a large dumpster, and push them into a busy freeway.
As for games… seriously guys, just get an XBox, PS3, or Wii. If you spend that much money on a system to get a gaming computer (I’ve seen people pay $3000 plus for a tricked out PC) then you really need to get a life.
I’d hire #1.
Better to hire someone who gets paid what they deserve, can learn new skills from anything, and may occasionally go on sick leave than someone who asks for a higher pay just for looking good and being a bit less heavy on their desk chair, can’t learn new stuff from anyone else but their mom (who needs to be paid for that), and has only one arm.
PC doesn’t go on sick leave if you give him condoms.
Mac on the other hand has intercourse without protection because he’s young and thinks nothing can get to him, but one day something new will come along and he’ll be in a world of sh!t.
They both suck, and if i ever met a duech bag who made viruses on the internet justbecuase hes a d**k id kick his ass ship him of in a box with an air hole to tokyo, have a recording of him putting viruses on the internet, and see how hed like that s**t:0
just why do you people care this much? just see the poster and laugh.. not start debate/argument thingy, im sure there’re many forums elsewhere for you to have ‘the great geek war’, but it’s not here!
anyone who knows enough about both Macs and PCs to have any sort of substantial argument about them is a geek, anyone who has such a sad social life that they have that substantial argument on the comments section of a LOLZ site, qualifies as a nerd… a nerd is geek with no understanding of the mechanics of human social interaction
Sheesh, arguing over this stuff?
You’d think somebody insulted Glenn Beck here!
Hire the guy on the right. He looks like he may have even changed his own flat tire before.
Depends on the job. If it’s something in accountancy, the PC guy, If it’s High-tech, especially Google, Facebook and such, the Mac guy is a sure winning. Bottom line, the PC will get more jobs, but the Mac will earn 10 times more. So What truth you were referring to, exactly?
Let’s face it. The Windows vs. Mac vs. Linux debate rages on forever. But all three of them are flawed horribly. But the debate rages because people will ignore the bad things blindly in support of their OS. All OS are good and bad depending on your personal preferences and what you use your computer for. Personally, I prefer Windows, but thats only because I don’t have much experience with Mac or Linux. If I had the money and resources I’d have all three on one machine.
Now while I do prefer Windows, I’m not going to argue that it is the absolute best. It is more prone to user-error viruses, but due to its popularity more programs are compatible with it. A lot of software companies cut costs by focusing solely on Windows. In my opinion Macs and Linuxes can do just as much as Windows. They all use the same parts motherboards, hard drives, sticks of RAM. the issue arises in how companies code their products.
I like to keep an open mind about stuff like this, i mean after all, you will never find an OS that is 100% perfect.
If I looked for an executive, I would talk to the first one first, but his suit would not convince me that he knows what is required of him. May be the second would do a better job, but I would consider him as well. When I look for a person to do the job, I take many things into account, and I believe that this is a average plan.
I wonder when (if?) there will ever be a creation that makes the debate between Mac and Windows (and Linux) obsolete. Meaning, I wonder when there will be something that blows these other OS’s out of the water that people will look back on this debate and laugh that it was ever even had.
Well, naturally I would hire the one I felt knew how to handle to work better and stop basing on looks alone. Sometimes that guy with all the tattoos and piercings can, in fact, do the job better than Mr. Suit.
I have to admit that I don’t get this ad at all. What does it want to tell us? I’ve never seen this ad anywhere, but I reckon one of these guys is supposed to represent Mac and the other PC. But which is which? And who does the ad _imply_ would be hired? And why?
Thanks for any _serious_ input.
Where I used to work, we originally had macs because the IT guy was a MAC guy. All of those MACS were thrown in the dumpster and replaced with faster, less expensive PCs. The IT guy threw a temper tantrum and quit because he could not even set up a printer on a windows machine. The switch over happened because none of the software we needed ran on MACs (MRP system, cad programs, File server, PLC programming software, PLC monitoring and linking software, hell even half our printers didn’t work right). As a personal computer, MACs might be fine for what you use them for, but they are useless in a manufacturing and design environment with the exception in that they can send emails…then again so can my phone.
With all the talk about being first, second or third, and at least a hundred comments already added to this page, I feel I have to contribute only this:
Well since mac has build their commercials on saying s**t about pc i lost all respect to them.. kinda reminds me of co-workers sayin s**t about you to get a promotion.. very trustable
Ok, heres what pisses me off- not the whole bulls#!t argument that PCs are inferior to macs due to virus vulnerability (which I cannot attest to better than anyone who actually understands the technical aspects involved), but the fact that people think that the “Mac” actor, Justin Long, is in any way shape or form charismatic. He does a very poor job at pretending to be a humble, unassuming, laid back and likable person- much like his other acting roles- and the fact that Mac hired him to represent their system speaks volumes about their attitude towards the consumer and making a product.
Do you really want an obnoxious liar to be your home computer?
Does it hurt? No, not really. Because if you have half a brain and aren’t a complete retard, you’ll know how to dress for an interview. Not my problem; I don’t wanna work with some slacker anyway.
I’d hire the Windows guy. He looks like he actually wants the job and is willing to admit his flaws, unlike Mac who looks like he’s just “hanging out” and will just bad mouth other and overlook his own flaws.
I would pick definitely the Mac guy. That way I will know he’s not wasting the working time playing all of those cool video games. Yep. PC’s are cooler, no matter how much Steve Jobs tries to make you think the opposite.
it depends on the job. if i need a cube jockey to process xls files all day, the pc gets hired. if i need a creative problem-solver, i’ll have to continue the interviewing. casual does cut it if the person has skills.
For all the people here who think this means to say “Mac” is who you would hire in an office setting… no. You are stupid.
I hire people for a living, and unless I need someone for graphic design…. then they better know how to use a PC. Microsoft Office little buddies. Macs are worthless in the business world for the most part…
You all missed the question. It asked which man would you hire? Not which computer company. This is based on looks. If you were Hiring just based on the way that looked coming into the interview. Say for an IT job, which would do a better job… I would guess the older man might not be up to date on new info.. But the younger one was. Stuff like that.. Not that clothing makes the man kind of thing.
I’d hire the nerd on the left but I would SNOG the living daylights out of the one on the right. So hard and long he wouldn’t care if he ever worked again. Life is balance.
Given that the whole *point* was that the PC character was depicted as being in work clothes and the Mac in casual clothes, I’d say that the people behind this didn’t really understand the ads. But, hey, what’s reason and logic when there’s an opportunity to take a shot at some imagined foe?
Id hire the guy in the casual atire, because he would act like less of a know it all, and there would be less of a chance he would steal my job, making me work for him. Plus the buisness suit guy looks like a jackass.
I think it all depends on what you need the computer for. Macs are for people who just want to use a computer, who don’t really care about all the extra stuff. People who use PCs want to manipulate their system to work exactly how they want it. Or sometimes PCs are just people who want a computer. And I agree that PCs are higher maintenance. That’s because they’re more adaptable.
Who cares? They will both get the job done, whatever that job is, unless you get a defective one, or you don’t know how to use it. At this point it’s just a question of branding. Do you like Triscuits or Wheat Thins? Coke or Pepsi? Chevy or Ford? Personally, I use PCs because it’s what I’m used to. There’s nothing wrong with the person working next to me using a Mac for the same reason. As long as the job gets done, WHO CARES? Or, since we know that obviously a lot of people DO care, WHY?
I would generally hire the more competent person, which requires actually talking to them instead of looking at their outfits.
I don’t have time to deal with stupid, I’d rather put a tie on Justin. Of course, I assume you are looking to hire a bank manger based on your outfit preference. I run an agency so I don’t care what my guys and girls wear unless we have a meeting with a client.
Justin Long playes a hacker who helped stop a “firesale” in Die Hard 4. Did he use a MAC once? No. So far the only thing I’ve EVER seen a MAC interface smoothly with is an alien mothership, and they used it to upload a VIRUS, which according to Applephiles just can’t happen.
Well… I’d choose the Windows guy for technical stuff. Like office work, for example.
The only macs I’ve ever used were the schools ancient Macs, which were slow and crappy, so Mac didn’t make a very good first impression with me.
For which computer you use, it really depends on what you need it for.
Most of the things I do on computers are play games, So I like Windows anyway.
About people who say one OS runs like crap and the other doesn’t, from personal experience, are special cases. My Windows works fine, and It doesn’t crash, or have any problems. Funny, because it’s Vista, and most people agree that Vista sucks.
Granted, it shipped with a faulty motherboard, the Disc drive broke, and the charger recently fried itself, but that was the manufacturer(HP)s fault. All of the problems I have with my computer are unrelated to the OS.
Epic of all epic comment sections, only the failblog with the japanese date dolls beats this from what i’ve seen, i swear it took me 3 hours to get through that one.
If mac took of his hoodie he’d be hired over PC where I work cause if you’re wearing a suit for anything other than a head office job interview you look like an utter tool
You’re in reality a good webmaster. The website loading velocity is amazing. It sort of feels that you are doing any distinctive trick. In addition, The contents are masterwork. you have performed a wonderful process in this subject!
1st
Yay!! We can count!!!
Next time on Sesame Street we’ll deal with the number 2.
damn that 2 hes a tricky bastard
i think your comment just made my day
3 is a notorious c**k blocker
Who does Number 2 work for?
34, for sure.
your @$$ lol
bravo. this the first first i have seen that is actually first.
I’d Hire PC…because there and billions of free applications on PC you can download and use…but there is only like 100 free for Mac, the rest you have to buy…or learn how to f***ing code and develop your own program to just convert a damn WMV file into DIVX…
Wow…you REALLY don’t know what you’re talking about.
NEVERTHELESS… When you’re applying for a job, the hirers look for people who are ready for it. Unfortunately, being casual doesn’t get it… -shrugs- THAT’S what they mean by the ‘truth’
I’d recommend the guy on the left, until his medical screening discovered he was rife with viruses.
But the guy guy on the right can be bribed more easily.
PCs can get viruses ONLY if you are retarded enough to click on every link on every site.
17 Dollars, oh sh*t, wrong thread altogether

-NiCad Drag Racer-
It looks like you’ve never used a mac
Yeah. If had used a Mac, he’d be much, much sadder.
Seriously though, ask any business that doesn’t have to do with illegal distribution of MP3 files and they’ll go with PC.
i want to read a book. there’s billions of megabytes of free text on the internet, i think i’ll read that. why pay for text when its everywhere?
You do not know what a library is.
wait… what?
You know nothing dude…
LOL @ Billy. What a retarded comment.
hahaha – that’s so not true – but it’s ok we don’t need loosers on macs.
You mean like the “losers” who can’t spell “loser”…you loser?
you mean ‘more’ losers. i mean come on, who else would buy sucha piece of crap?
Yeah, and there are also billions of virus for your lovely PC, as well. You might hire the PC guy until he opens his mouth and proves himself an idiot.
Screw you all, I use Linux. The only problem I have, well actually no problem, I just use an emulator to use Microsoft programs on Linux.
NZLD
-NiCad Drag Racer-
Yeah, in the 80s.
Wow, you REE HEEE HEEEEAALLY don’t know WTF you’re talking about.
all lies- obviously don’t know what your talking about.
Wait….why is your video a WMV to begin with and why do you want to convert it to a DIVX file?
You won’t hire the Mac just because he’s gay and you are homophobic…
Make it so, Number One!
I would hire Mac. More laid back, not as many problems… Never gonna ask to take a day off because he got a virus.
Yeah, that’s why every Mac user has an antivirus installed and about 90% of Mac users have caught viruses in their lifetime.
/sarcasm
Good thing I am in that 10% who do actually have Anti-virus.
Also on Snow leopard the changes of getting a virus are slimmer than that to Windows 7, the easiest way to get a virus on a mac is through data transfers with the likes of portable hard drives and USB sticks as the pre-installed software does not detect this but is very good at detecting dodgy files from the Internet.
And It is known that there are fewer variations of viruses such as trojans for Macintosh than PC.
sooooo i use windows to write a virus for unix systems.
YES. FINALLY.
Too long. Did not read.
And typical American ignorance rears its ugly head once again. Danke.
I’d like to point out your ignorance of the word ignorance, and your ignorance of the meme called tl;dr.
What difference does it make?
wow that is so enlightening. who knew?
so very true
That’s the true myth right there.
Marketshare has NOTHING to do with a platform’s security.
There is NO piece of Mac malware that installs itself.
If that were true you would be able to name even one virus for the Mac. But since there aren’t any, you can’t. And it’s not because of market share either, that’s an idiot’s explanation for it.
Ever heard of ASLR? That thing that windows fully implements and OSX doesn’t? Didn’t think so.
Doesn’t need it, bro.
that’s a mac fan-boi’s lack of computer knowledge

Seems to me Mac’s have to constantly get updates to fix these holes in the security of the OS. The same as PC’s do…now go cry me a river cause I just ruined your little bubble world…
And still in 25 years of working with Macs, I’ve had to deal with exactly one virus. Wonder why that is.
good for you?
And in a nearly equal amount of time working with PCs, I’ve never had to deal with a virus at all. That might be exceptional, but it’s still true.
Cuz they’re irrelevant. My C-64 doesn’t get viruses either.
I can’t say I prefer either computer OS, (Had a lot of trouble replacing parts with my mac, but also HATE windows) but I would definitely choose the Windows guy for my business over that Mac tool.
http://antivirus.about.com/od/macintoshresource/Macintosh_Viruses_and_Mac_Virus_Resources.htm
Now stfu.
Oo, you made a link.
Nothing. Not one, nothing at all has ever been seen in the field. I have been a Macintosh systems administrator for 15 years and have been working with Macs since they came out in 1984. I have had to deal with exactly one infection and all that did was make copies of itself over the network. Your link does not impress anyone.
http://www.sophos.com/pressoffice/news/articles/2006/02/macosxleap.html
too many to name…. they have being around since the 80′s
Never have seen that one or any other like it. Twenty-five years, man, nothing.
HellRTS.D… go ahead Google it…
Inqtana.A worm, for one.
Want to try again?
@Xaqtly
nobody will argue that Windows based machines have and most likely will always have more attacks, due to usage popularity and overall market share/public usage. Many just as you stated are from clicking or accepting some bogus link or file. But you are incorrect that there are no viruses so here are a few things for ya to check out. And feel free to correct me…
~ http://macviruscom.wordpress.com/apple-malware-descriptions/ this is a site operated by David Harley, a very respected man in the anti-virus world. the site is a work in progress but a great jumping off point with links to other sites
JC
Actually, a virus by definition is a program that produces an results that were not to the users expectation. Grey area no?
lmao, maybe you need a refresher as well…
1. macs are useless so no one bothers with viruses.
2. there have been many cases of viruses on macs, one so famious it got on the news, people lost total control of their comp and everything.
look it up rather than telling others to do it for you XD
TheBehemoth, I think you will find YOU are useless, which is why no one bothers with you. Your reasoning is faulty. Fix it.
Lastly, just because they “don’t” (which they do) have viruses doesn’t mean they CANT get them… to think that is ignorant.
Another opinion: http://www.sophos.com/pressoffice/news/articles/2006/02/macosxleap.html
Ha, from an antiviurs software manufacturer. I’m totally sure it’s completely unbiased about the threat of Mac OS viruses.
when was the last time you ever heard of an actual “virus” taking hold and infecting more than 5 different computers since 2005? really answer me that… the so called hackers of yester year are no longer now they dont focus on causing mass destruction and making millions… now they work with the trojans and little worms that get separate users’ personal id then use that to their own benefit. the gov’ts of the world have caught hold of the so called virus world and have basically decimated it… so not my convo but if ya wanna continue it please do lol
What crap!
OSX/LoseGame-A
What did I win?
I’m on my Mac laptop, using OS X, and I lost the Game. Damn that virus spreads fast.
Leap.A (aka Oompa Loompa virus)
Inqtana.A
OSX.RSPlug.A
Need more?
Here ya go, bozo.
http://www.sophos.com/pressoffice/news/articles/2006/02/macosxleap.html
Sophos publishes an antivirus package for the Mac, so they’re biased as to the level of threat. Sorry dude.
Forge, don’t you have a wife or something? Something better to do?
Windows laptops last maybe eight months before they get so clusterf***ed they have to be sent back and reimaged.
really, i had my windows vista for 1 1/2 years, never had a virus or crash, and still running as fast as i got it
Windows is just fine if you know how to take care of it. For the rest of the 90% of all computer users, well, it means I have job security is what.
Yes, because you know everything about every single piece of software in existence for both macs and pcs.
And, boy, aren’t you going to be upset when you find out that he doesn’t get alone with everyone like he claimed and that he lied on his resume.
Sure, I would hire Mac first…if I was looking for someone to fill a minimum wage job…
I’d hire the PC, if I was looking for a stick-in-the-mud office drone. If I want actual innovation and creativity, I’d hire an actual human being, not a computer.
Well of course not, you cant get a virus when your useless. You have to be active and do things to get a virus…
dont forget his idiot father who thinks all his children are revolutionary things
LOL Linux has NO VIRUSES, the reason why Macintosh & Windows have viruses is because Macintosh doesn’t like Windows & Windows doesn’t like Macintosh.
NZLD
-NiCad Drag Racer-
Macs are counter-intuitive in use. Put em all in BP’s oil leak and you hit two birds with one stone.
That might be a personal opinion. I found Mac’s more intuitive and easier to use than PCs.
Actually, I’ve found PCs to be a lot easier to wipe and install a real OS on than Macs.
I personally wouldn’t mind Macs so much if they didn’t cost so much, had decent games, and if their fans weren’t so gorram *smug*.
most steam games are being ported to mac, actually.
Wrong. Most *Valve* games are being ported. All the rest of the game are written by other developers (who also mostly use DirectX instead of OpenGL, etc) and have 0 plans of porting their work over to OSX
Which is the part that blows a big hole in the argument, when Mac tries to advertise itself as being “More Fun” than PC
that’s hilarious considering all of these comments are from smug windows users
Careful with the smug comments. The PC users here are far more smug than any Mac user I’ve ever met. Not to mention the Linux fanboys.
Sir, I love the fact that you used the word “gorram”.
What are you talking about? Modern Macs are x86 with EFI. Only OS you probably can’t run on one is MS-DOS.
I’ve found your mom to be easier than both Mac and PC..
Well played…well played.
If you can’t figure out how to wipe and install an OS on a Mac, you may be functionally retarded.
…every PC owner knows this…MACs are built for idiots. Not nessesariily saying anyone who uses one is an idiot but they are idiot proof
anything that’s “idiot proof” rarely accounts for the ingenuity of genuine idiots
Every Mac owner IS a PC owner, you dolt.
THANK YOU.
Specific examples, please. Without them, your ambiguous comment rates no intelligence.
ALWAYS.
or 3?
I’m counting counting!
When I’m alone I [BEEP] myself!
this is the greatest f***ing thing i have ever seen!!!
Which would I hire? The job is collecting shopping trolleys in the parking lot, so I wouldn’t hire the man in the suit.
Case and point.
Case *in* point.
mmmm no, I really meant case AND point.
Don’t forget to laugh at the dude in the orange safety jacket in the parking lot, while you’re at it.
(Been there, done that, came away with a passionate hatred of unions)
Well… applicants generally ARE allowed to change clothes from the time they apply to when they start work…
Just because someone wears a suit in an interview doesn’t mean he will wear it in the actual workplace, if the mac turned up to a job interview like that he certainly wouldn’t get the job over the guy with the suit.
As an unemployed American, I’d like to know what you ARE looking for in employees.
Eagle Scout doesn’t seem to have the same appeal it used to.
Actually, I showed up in a very nice suit once for a programming job and everyone there was in sweats, shorts and sneakers. I was very out of place.
I have seen people look like they have just walked in off the street for an interview…strangely, I did not see them when I got hired after wearing shirt and tie to the interview for the same position.
But what if it’s Not-So-Casual Friday?
I would pick the PC in stead of the Mac ANYTIME
Reasons why are missing from your post…
caring is missing from mine
Reasons why he needs reasons are missing from yours.
So you’d choose both?
Macs ARE PCs you f***ing idiot.
No…Macintosh is watching! The Apple is double-plus good! Work for the betterment of all!
Your definitions are wrong. Stop with the stupid argument. Even Apple Says Mac VS PC only when it directly relates to Apple VS Windows. PC has always, is, and will always be synonymous with Windows. Mac is NOT synonymous with PC.
Definition of PC: Personal computer.
I would hire based on the position. I myself used to hire techs (computer repair shop) that DID NOT show up in suits, as usually found the suits wanted more money and would not work based on “billable hours”.
Those who were more laid back tended to work best for my own style.
You’re both right, sort of. (clicky)
personal computer
After looking at their work history, that’s a no-brainer
Yeah, Mac work history is pretty much school and graphic design, while PC has all sorts of business related history.
And as we all know, every job in the known universe involves “business” and not graphic design or any of the creative arts.
Au contrare (I can’t spell in French T_T). Some businesses have to do with creative arts, but not all businesses do.
If an artist makes money, I should hope that they have had some business classes…otherwise they stand a very good chance of being exploited by people who do (who usually happen to be businesses).
This demotivator is gonna be a warzone.
I agree, and before everyone starts, Shut up.
YOU shut up!
. . . what do we do after we all shut up?
Let’s go to Dairy Queen!
f*** dairy queen. let’s go get some burgers.
….fur burgers.
The truth does hurt. Where I work, we’d hire the slacker in the hoody.
My…my head. What have you done to my precious brain cells (and wallet)?!
Damn hoodies.
“This demotivator is gonna be a warzone.” Only for those with a religious zealotry for technology.
Welcome to the internet.
I guess I would hire the guy in the suit? I dunno!
Faced with that choice, I’d leave the req open and do the work myself until I could find a qualified candidate.
I suppose I’d hire the guy that doesn’t shoot his mouth off and gets his job done correctly the first time (ie Linux).
Funny cuz when I updated to Lucid Lynx it stopped working and I had to download it onto a CD off of my parents PC to get it to work.
We- *gets trampled by the many factions of the Linux camp*
If the two men actually behaved as depicted in the ads I’d hire the Mac dude in spite of the casual interview attire. When questioned the PC dude always starts to use some buzzwords (badly) and then fails to provide any actual knowledge. He usually sounds like he’s trying to BS his way through his answers without any confidence in his BS.
And the Mac guy just mocks him. Heck, he’ll even outright lie. “Macs never crash”, anyone?
Please provide link to the commercial that says “Macs never crash” please.
That is the whole point of the ad’s It is an APPLE ad. The point is to make the C guy look like a bumbling idiot.
thats probably because its a commercial promoting macs
It is after all a mac ad, so of course the pc guy sounds lame. The surprise is that so many people still seem to prefer the pc guy. That means the ad is failing. I myself would hire the pc guy. I am tired of employees with attitude. It is easier to loosen someone up than tighten them down. Plus none of the fiancial business programs we use work on the mac.
OMG COPY! AND U REMOVED THE WATERMARK! THAT WAS ON MORONAIL FIRST!!! YOU CAN ATLEAST GIVE CREDIT!
I would hire the crazy hobo just off-screen.
LIAR!
I love you.
Me too. I have people I need killed.
Hire or kill?
well if your hiring choice was based solely on the way they dressed, then your business deserves whatever happens next.
Tell me about the interview and then we’ll talk. I’ve hired before. Just because someone shows up in a suit, doesn’t mean they are at all professional or a good worker. Coming overdressed is just as bad as being under dressed. Tell me what I’m hiring for.
exactly!
hmm.. which would I hire? Who’s got the better gearscore? Is it > 9000? That’s the only question, gearscore = skill. *grin*
I’d take the one wielding Shadowmourne.
*coughtotheright*
Nah I’d get the guy with Quel Delar or Bryntroll. High-end raiders tend to be jack-asses.
My gear score is over 5.7k =)
Got Shadowmourne in my right hand and Bryntroll in my left = )
Well, considering that the man in the suit is much older. I would hire the young man and save on my bottom line, because I can pay him less.
Except, since he’s a Mac, he costs more.
Unless of course I was hiring greeters for Wal-Mart.
i would bang his wife
Would you then fire him, and crush his soul?
+5
That has just made my day.
i dont trust ppl in suits. the dude not in a suit.
Wow. You must get through interviewees pretty quickly!
I would pick Mac. Because he’s a badass.
I’d say that he’s either bad or ass, but not the two combined.
The guy on the left, (PC); he is designed for business. (I’m a die-hard *nix/OSX user, but he did say “place of business”!)
The incompetent doofus (the PC persona, Hodgman is great) or the unkempt? Can I choose neither?
You’d pick the incompetent doofus because he likes to look professional. And with anyone, train them enough, let them practice, and they can become great:P
I prefer talking to someone and basing my impressions off that, as opposed to appearances.
You can force someone to wear a uniform, but you can’t change their personality.
Until they have to upgrade to OS 11 that is.
I’d hire the one on the right — and because the job would be Unix/Linux support, I’d be right. (Mac OS is Unix-based. Windows is… well, a little CP/M, a little OS/2, and a little VMS, all mutated almost beyond recognition.)
And you think for a second that a typical Mac user has even a clue about CLI programming in a UNIX environment? Mac is all about the pretty pictures.
So is Windows, that plus instability, what’s your point?
My point they’re both crap. Was that not obvious?
Windows is no less stable than any Mac machine. Try again.
What’s that got to do with anything? If I’m hiring a programmer I couldn’t possibly give less of a f*** what platform he wants to develop in as long as the finished product runs on what I want it to and does what I want it to. And you can do that on *any* platform.
That guy on the left is a badass
First tell me the job and what kind of business it is.
hire from the wasteland, not from the vault.
you don’t want a bubbleboy.
nice fallout reference. looking forward to new vegas ^^
I don’t know about that, the Pip Boy would increase productivity exponentially
I don’t know about you, but I’d hire the Vault Dweller or Lone Wanderer in a heartbeat. The guy (or gal) is friggin’ unstoppable. Perfect hitman, mercenary, courier, scout, pretty much anything that involves killing things.
Working with a tool, or a somewhat cocky dude…I guess for me the latter would be less stressful…
Working with a tool, or a cocky dude? Phew…I guess the latter would be less stressful.
I’d pick working with a somewhat cocky dude over working with a tool any day.
I’d probably hire both, as I’ll need both a sales manager and some kick ass programmer.
mr obvious wins
Hey… thats right
I would too but for me; PC to do the actual work and Justin Long – I mean Mac – to be my *personal* assistant ;0)
I’d pick working with an overconfident dude over working with a tool any day.

SamePoster.
The funny part is how you can play more games on the professional-looking one.
I…..am not gonna go there.
this is a dumb poster. i’d hire the pc guy if i wanted a guy like milton in the f***in’ office. and i’d hire the mac guy if it was basically any other job cause idk he’s normal?
and it’s funny you can play more games on a pc? it’s also funny that i’m on a macbook pro that i use for photoshop and graphic design and i still manage to do everything and more that all my pc friends do.. except play games. but that’s cause i actually go and hang with people versus spend my life playing world of warcraft or some s**t
Funny you should mention WoW, as I have it running beautifully on my mac. I can run it at the highest specs, rampage around in the crowded servers, use the… I suppose I am shooting myself in the foot, huh?
Wow, what crawled up your @$$ and died?
A mouse that could not find its way out due to not having a right click shortcut menu.
You understand that you’ve been able to right click and get a contextual menu for about 20 years now on Macs, right?
It’s not a right click when there’s only one click, it’s ctrl click.
Macs have had two-button mouses since before most people reading this could read.
Not as a default piece of hardware bucko. Most all come with the s**tty 1 click for decades.
Took me a week or two to get used to it, and now when I have to help my PC using friends or family with things, I find myself cursing that damn two button mouse/trackpad the whole time I’m stuck on them.
because youre used to using a mac over whats standard.
also fact of life, change takes time to get accustomed to even if youre changing back to what you were once accustomed to.
finally, you like the 1 button mouse because of personal preference not because its superior in anyway shape or form. in all truth the keyboard is far faster than any mouse once you get used to it
Yeah, I can just imagine an office full of snarky slackers who are too busy lying about their abilities to actually get work done.
You don’t play games because you can’t play games, so stop with the sour grapes.
You say you do everything your friends do, but what about everything a business worker does?
The one with the competent portfolio. Since the guy in the suit can’t even boot up his computer and open the relevant programs without a soul crushing lag between them to create a competent portfolio, I’m gonna have to go with the brighter gamut, better organized and more concise Mac.
Keep your games at home, suit-boys.
Also,
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs158.snc4/37215_403098644645_736379645_4610137_7809751_n.jpg
A third choice. Despite the point the poster was TRYING to make. PC guy is to old and too far in that dirction. Neither would make it, nice try though
So you’d choose the Penguin?
I would definitely choose the penguin, with a virtual machine suit guy.
I’d choose a talking panda who eats taco’s.
Sorry wrong comic – meant to link this one:
http://26.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l46id9zdPm1qzwya5o1_500.png
Just so I’m clear; you’re linking to a comic about a ridiculously exaggerated client in a discussion about which computer is better?
Laugh much? Chillax.
Ridiculously exaggerated? Come do business in Florida. I am not. Joking.
Oh, and the scruffy kid costs 20% more.
The one who interviews better, assuming their CVs were equally good.
Justin Long. no contest
I… don’t get it.
Then you sir fail.
The PC guy (left) looks much more professional and more likely to be hired by a professional company. Mac (right) looks way too casual and laid back, and would not be hired. This is from a Mac ad.
Did I ruin the joke yet?
Depends on what you’re hiring for. I own a tattoo studio, and the guy in the suit would probably make our customers feel uncomfortable. The Mac guy is laid back and reassuring The problem with that poster is hiring all about the context of the position you are hiring for.
The second one cause my place of business is a grocery store helping costomers with there groceries like bringing them to there car.But it would be wierd if i came out of the store and saw him coming out of the car with his pants unzipped (shudders)
It’s all about customer satisfaction!
Judging a book by its cover – and NOT its resume…. how very PC of you…
The right one (Mac). He doesn’t have to hide his incompetence under a suit.
No he just blatantly advertises hit incompetence by not wearing a suit.
Mac, because he is one of my favorite actors.
have them fight to the death. Winner takes job.
Only problem with this clip is that I mainly use my Linux machine for video editing (HD) and excel spreadsheets. So I don’t really get the point of it…
certain linux distros are able to play lots of games that are windows exclusive; certain ones also have the same video editing capabilities that mac has. its about doing the research and finding the one thats best for sort of like with all the new types of windows that they keep coming out with (except most linux distros aren’t just adding features for a higher mark up prices) and to my knowledge macs have a one size fits all operating system. dont crucify me if im wrong, just correct me and be done with it.
the dude from die hard. drrrrrr
I’d definitely hire Justin Long!
So what did the truth end up being again? I may have missed something.
seriously? the second. We have a standing order that, apart from the senior executives (and even then only when meeting with politicians and other VIPs), we are not to wear suits to work.
This is exactly what we need, another war between the mac and PC. First TF2, now this.
Just so it is stated I’m pretty sure Mr. Mac would be the one most hired do to facts like Accepted and Die Hard. Check…
I can’t handle it.
i can!
Neither…since having seen the ad campaign, neither one seems to have the brains of a rock.
DUDE! YOU’RE GETTING A DELL server!!
you would hire a penguin….?
Always run into the “edit movies, music, and photos” argument for Macs… It just doesn’t make sense. Virtually no distinction in capability between Mac or Windows. Maya (3D rendering program used for most major motion pictures) runs identically on Windows machines and Mac machines. No differences in render accuracy or capability. Photoshop is just as good on either machine. Sound editing is just the same. No difference.
After doing all those things on many platforms, I know the choice of platform boils down to one thing, cost. Which the Windows machine will take the cake any day.
The third, a worker that works exactly by my needs
Those ads are one-sided. Macs are pretty but s**t pc is becoming pretty too.
Leaked video of MAC commercial with Justin Long
Open-ended question is open-ended. It depends entirely on where you work. You wouldn’t hire the Mac guy as a bank manager or w/e, and you’d be unlikely to hire the PC guy to work in a sports shop or at a Gym.
touche….
Hmmm interesting. You wouldn’t hire PC to work at your gym even though if you could get him in good shape you would have a great before and after story.
And, what about the office/accounting staff at the sports shop and/or gym? Do you really want a gym rat slacker doing your books?
Yep, hire the mac for the minimum wage, or creative jobs.
Hire the PC for every other job, which most of which pay twice as much.
I would hire Hodgman. The dude is hilarious.
I’d hire Justin Long! He made Die Hard 4 so he’s a tough guy!
PC guy all the way. He will always show up at least 5 minutes early to work, plans his vacation time in advance, rarely uses a sick day, organized and professional, remembers details throughout the week, and you’d have a much greater chance that PC guy is going to pass his drug screening.
Thank God for Linux. It’s free, it’s better than Windows OR OSX, and the best part is you can look down on EVERYBODY.
Exactly. They should also stop calling the guy in the suit “PC” because every PC I have runs on Ubuntu, not windows. The only way Mac keeps any market is to keep a chokehold on a few high end applications, but even that won’t last forever.
haha. hear, hear!
Then people call you an elitist out of envy.
Maybe you failed to realize that OS X is literally a beautified version of “Linux”… Look down on yourself.
or osx is an overpriced low specs version of most linux distros
Well the OS doesn’t cost hardly anything, unlike Microsoft which increases the OEM price of a box by what, $200? But the box itself, from Apple, whoof, how much you got, still ain’t enough.
And you have to run Windows in a sandbox if you want to play any games. = )
For the love of all that is holy THIS.
Said the guy who’s been arguing the most.
Neon green hair>all
I would hire John Hodgman right on the spot
Justin Long would probably throw on a suit before a job interview, get hired, and Dwight would be left looking for a job at staples.
Poor effort PC.
Mac guy would be more laid back, true, but he’d be more reliable by far.
false stereotyping alert!
also read above comments before posting. the no viruses and no crashing thing is a lie. all operating systems have that problem (even linux) because everyone is vulnerable. get used to it
“In order to protect your machine, Windows has prevented
Windows
From executing. For more information, click [here.]”
So wish I were even making that up.
THE ONE WITH THE BIGGEST BOOBIES!!!1111
I’d hire the hot Linux chick!
Mac = Skynet
Since I work in advertising, I’d rather have Mac. If I interviewed a graphic design or web designer and they came in a suit and tie, I’d tell them no right away.
The Amazing Shea says:
July 1, 2010 at 12:52 pm
“I would hire the crazy hobo just off-screen.”
Red Flag Linux, eh?
Haha, that’s awesome!
LOL at butthurt PC users.
the funny thing here… the stereotype that people wearing a suit will get hired at a job.
sorry to say, but the advertising firm i am at…. the guy in the suit is over prepared and unlikely to fit in.
People will get hired more if they are in a suit in 90 percent of jobs, just because your one job, or a few peoples ‘advertising’ or ‘creative’ jobs won’t hire them doesn’t mean he’s worse off.
You’re all idiots.
I pick the guy that nailed Drew Barrymore.
Sadly there is no opening for professional actors at my place of business. So I probably wouldnt hire any of them.
the truth hurts sometimes
Actually in Austin you’d hire the guy on our right. Or the guy on our left if he was dressed like the guy on our right.
I want to post a useless comment too that has noting to do with the picture that no one will read.
Mac Guy for: pizza delivery, busboy, stocking shelves, mopping floors
PC Guy for: office work, finance, project management
Linux Guy for: warehousing, logistics, UFC Fighting…
I’d hire the black guy.
Because my life has become so much easier ever since I changed from a PC to an Apple, I say Apple ftw. But that’s one person’s opinion!
i like your comment best of all the mac defenses. it doesnt belittle anyone and it doesnt make rash assumptions. i still stand by my anti-mac stance but you sir/madam havent done anything wrong by me.
Seconded!
Xaqtly you really are on a one man crusade to defend Apple. Stop calling everyone idiots.
PC’s have something Macs will never have…
Marketshare
Macs are PCs.
A PC is a computer.
Mac OSX is the operating system, or perhaps Windows, or maybe Linux, or BSD, etc..
Forge uses Spot On Analogy…
It’s super effective!
Anyone else think its funny that in only 2 days this attracted 242 comments from /b/tards who have argued over this photo hundreds of times already in the at least 2 years since this picture came out on 4chan?
Depends. What if Apple is doing the hiring?
Hey did anyone up their hear about 11?!?!
That dude robbed the whole damn block!!!
Well, suit makes a better appearance. But also it gives you nothing about the person.
They both suck, and if i ever met a duech bag who made viruses on the internet justbecuase hes a d**k id kick his ass ship him of in a box with an air hole to tokyo, have a recording of him putting viruses on the internet, and see how hed like that s**t:0
This is why there will NEVER be world peace.
just why do you people care this much? just see the poster and laugh.. not start debate/argument thingy, im sure there’re many forums elsewhere for you to have ‘the great geek war’, but it’s not here!
anyone who knows enough about both Macs and PCs to have any sort of substantial argument about them is a geek, anyone who has such a sad social life that they have that substantial argument on the comments section of a LOLZ site, qualifies as a nerd… a nerd is geek with no understanding of the mechanics of human social interaction
Sheesh, arguing over this stuff?
You’d think somebody insulted Glenn Beck here!
Hire the guy on the right. He looks like he may have even changed his own flat tire before.
I think I’d hire the guy with more experience. Sure, he doesn’t have as much energy as the younger guy, but he probably has more patience.
10 times more? What jobs are you talking about, your programming jobs or your, oh i dunno, surgeons, lawyers, doctors, i could go on but i’m tired.
Yay! A voice of reason! Woo! Thank you!
Except that “mac” is not an OS. But otherwise I completely agree!
If I looked for an executive, I would talk to the first one first, but his suit would not convince me that he knows what is required of him. May be the second would do a better job, but I would consider him as well. When I look for a person to do the job, I take many things into account, and I believe that this is a average plan.
I don’t know… the Left one looks like a Pedo
I wonder when (if?) there will ever be a creation that makes the debate between Mac and Windows (and Linux) obsolete. Meaning, I wonder when there will be something that blows these other OS’s out of the water that people will look back on this debate and laugh that it was ever even had.
With Love and Gratitude,
The Intentional Sage
There is, it’s called Bootcamp. Haha.
But seriously, I am getting tired of this argument.
I work for Apple … We hired ‘em both!
Well, naturally I would hire the one I felt knew how to handle to work better and stop basing on looks alone. Sometimes that guy with all the tattoos and piercings can, in fact, do the job better than Mr. Suit.
I’d hire the one on the right. The dude on the left looks like a balding fat titt with no personality.
If you have only a little bit of brain you’d pick the left one obviously.
He looks more competent.
Screw pretteh ppl with no brains.
i like to select the one who proves that he can do, what business give him to do.
Based on appearances alone, I’d hire the guy on the right. Is that meant to be the joke?
And no, I don’t hold a particular preference to either machine.
I would hire PC because he looks professional for the job he is wanting.
Plus, when is the last time you saw a Mac at the place you worked.
With all the talk about being first, second or third, and at least a hundred comments already added to this page, I feel I have to contribute only this:
FIRST!!1
I believe I just invalidated all your arguments.
Well since mac has build their commercials on saying s**t about pc i lost all respect to them.. kinda reminds me of co-workers sayin s**t about you to get a promotion.. very trustable
Mac barely gets any viruses because they are SO DAMN HARD TO USE that no one bothers and yes i have used several macs in my lifetime
When you’re applying for a job, the hirers look for people who are ready for it. Unfortunately, being casual doesn’t get it…
i do not approve of this
Ok, heres what pisses me off- not the whole bulls#!t argument that PCs are inferior to macs due to virus vulnerability (which I cannot attest to better than anyone who actually understands the technical aspects involved), but the fact that people think that the “Mac” actor, Justin Long, is in any way shape or form charismatic.
I better wait and hire the Linux chick:
it depends on the job. if i need a cube jockey to process xls files all day, the pc gets hired. if i need a creative problem-solver, i’ll have to continue the interviewing. casual does cut it if the person has skills.
The truth.
Whenyou realize you should have hired the other guy instead.
It hurts, doesn’t it ?
For all the people here who think this means to say “Mac” is who you would hire in an office setting… no. You are stupid.
I hire people for a living, and unless I need someone for graphic design…. then they better know how to use a PC. Microsoft Office little buddies. Macs are worthless in the business world for the most part…
suck on that mac u all know it true
I would hire them both and use them to make money off of all of you.
Winner = http://verydemotivational.com/
Enjoy your ads!
Well, since the one on the left looks like a management-guy with a mastersdegree in “F***ing up the Economy” – i’d hire the one on the right.
And i strongly disagree with the one on the left being a nerd. He is not a nerd. Never.
Given that the whole *point* was that the PC character was depicted as being in work clothes and the Mac in casual clothes, I’d say that the people behind this didn’t really understand the ads. But, hey, what’s reason and logic when there’s an opportunity to take a shot at some imagined foe?
Given that I work in a warehouse, I’d hire the guy on the right…he’s ready to go, whereas the guy on the left…
Hey, you guys aren’t turning this into a Mac vs. PC argument, are you?
Id hire the guy in the casual atire, because he would act like less of a know it all, and there would be less of a chance he would steal my job, making me work for him. Plus the buisness suit guy looks like a jackass.
i would choose the dude on the right because he is awesome
I think it all depends on what you need the computer for. Macs are for people who just want to use a computer, who don’t really care about all the extra stuff. People who use PCs want to manipulate their system to work exactly how they want it. Or sometimes PCs are just people who want a computer. And I agree that PCs are higher maintenance. That’s because they’re more adaptable.
Mac and PC may look different, but under the hood, they are made of the same stuff.
Or, since we know that obviously a lot of people DO care, WHY?
jeez alot of comments. i’d hire justin long. (he’s on the right)
I think I’d hire justin long too Lol. Why turn down a movie star and the PC guy looks like an idiot.
Plus, we don’t use Windows machines anyway.
The guy to the left.
The guy to the right is an actor? Whatever. I don’t have an artist/model agency anyway. I need someone that can work.
They’re both actors, dumbass.
” THE TRUTH ”
The person who made this image is too lazy to click out of the crop option before taking a screen shot.
They both already have jobs… They work for Apple.
At Google and Assbook, the guy on the right would be hired.
Epic of all epic comment sections, only the failblog with the japanese date dolls beats this from what i’ve seen, i swear it took me 3 hours to get through that one.
time well spent..
If mac took of his hoodie he’d be hired over PC where I work cause if you’re wearing a suit for anything other than a head office job interview you look like an utter tool
Mmm…IDK but apparently Apple hired both of them(to make the commercial)…so both should be good

I like Ubuntu. It’s actually pretty fun, if you don’t have to dig deep to find drivers.
If, when I finally get Windows 7 and hate it, I’ll probably just rebuild with Ubuntu.
She must be in heaven at Starbucks.
If 13 is an unlucky number, the letter B should be too, because it looks like a scrunched together 13. “Whats your name? Bob? Get the f*** away!”
Oh Mitch Headberg, we all miss you.
