     “That man” failed.
     He fail in his first duty. To protect his partner from all harm, regardless of risk to himself.
     If they ever skate together again, she will be hesitant – fearing a re-occurrence. They will never win.

     Everybody falls sometime, whether in practice or competition. But, in every winning team, the woman has always said she trusts her partner to protect her in a fall.

       good in theory, unless it was totally and completely her fault and she took him down with her. i broke both bones of my arm at the elbow due to someone taking me down with them while skating. just because someone *usually the man* is leading and taking the more physical role does not mean he’s responsible for or able to avert an accident each and every time.
