I’d venture a guess he looks grumpier than he actually is. A lot of birds enjoy misting.
Many birds actually LIKE showers. Our parrots always LOVE them. It helps them cool off, get clean, and it’s just fun!
If you know anything about domestic birds, quite frequently their “flight feathers” are clipped in order to prevent their escape…in zoo cases they have them clipped for a while until they get used to the introduced habitat…kinda like locking a fat kid in a house full of Atkins food

While I agree with the statement, the bird in question is not unhappy. The owl merely looks unhappy because of the flattening of the head feathers. The handler is cooling down the owl to prevent heat stress.

Dude, we already had this discussion on Acting Like Animals; the Eurasian Eagle owl (pictured) – orany other bird for that matter – has to be sprayed to keep them from suffering heat-related ailments and keeping their feathers clean.
They actually really like showers. The reason this owl looks so grumpy is that the head feathers are flattened over it eyes, making it seem like it’s glaring.
It’s still a funny photo, regardless of how much of an expert on owls you are.
Yeah I think you’re kinda missing the point of these websites….
People who come in here going “WELL AKSHULLY…” tend to be the fun-suckers in my experience.

I hate to be a party pooper.. But they need showers. As do most birds as pets. It actually looks as though the Owl is enjoying it, if he/she wasn’t, well the thing has wings.
As a person who has almost 300 budgies, 50 cockatiels and 50 or more lovebirds ( I breed them ) A shower is a must, or else the dander gets unbearable. And its so adorable when the cockatiels gets sprayed with mist ^///^ They go upside down on their perches and stretch their wings… Kawaiii

Why do owls have such scary eyes? I mean I think owls are really cute, but if I woke up in the middle of the night to a pair of owl eyes staring at me, I’d flip the f*** out.
At least he’s not putting a blanket over it…
i worked at a bird rehab center for a while and it turns out that great horned owls always look scary lol!! there was one that couldnt see too well so he would clack his beak at me to try to scare me off. (yeah, kind of intimidating when you think of how strong they are lol) they love the baths they just look pissy most of the time
