  1. Naian says:

Haha. The Westboro baptist church people are so awful because they are so stupid.

  2. DAK23 says:

They’re both peas in the same pod.

    • PseudoAnonymousCoward says:

Not really. Both publicly and privately thee KKK is WAY more tolerant.
They only hate certain groups, and even then they aren’t as wacko as WBC. Worked with a couple of state and local Law enforcement agencies that dealt with them in the southeast US for many years.

One of the most horrid hate groups in the US is “The Nation Of Islam” followed closely by The New Black Panther Party.

      • David says:

Don’t forget the new Students for a Democratic Society. If there ever was a hate group…

And I have to concur with Islam being the biggest hate group… There are peaceful people who call themselves muslim, but if your religion is actively trying to take over the world under threat of death, it can hardly be called “the religion of peace.” I’m not converting, and i’m not paying dhimmitude… that leaves me with option 3: self defense.

        • motoneuron says:

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Nation_of_Islam

I believe he was talking about The Nation of Islam organization (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Nation_of_Islam) not the whole religion.

          • Thesis says:

            What motoneuron said.
You know, David, the fanatical & hostile Muslims are basically like the Christian Identity or KKK. Both are essentially domestic terrorists who use religion as their justification, but I’m guessing you don’t judge all Christians by their actions.
There are lots of Muslims who are tolerant, peaceful, and hate what the jihadist fanatics are doing.

tl;dr: Ignorance does not become you, David.

        • Bbebop says:

But…. what about the Spanish Inquisition? Pretty sure that wasn’t Islam… Kinda remember that being that whole Christian-Catholic thing. The Inquisition and the Crusades… totally peaceful <3
I'm not Muslim, but a lot of my family is. They're not the terrorist type Muslims more like… the California, beach hippie Muslims ^_^

          • PseudoAnonymousCoward says:

            @Bbebop sez –

“But…. what about the Spanish Inquisition?”

Because no one EXPECTS the Spanish Inquisition!”

            XD

          • Robert says:

If you have to go back five hundred years to find a significant problem, there is no significant problem.

            • Feh says:

And this is why we keep track of history. 500 years or not, there still IS a SIGNIFICANT problem.

              • Robert says:

i see no inquisitions, no religious wars. There are those who think Christians are being horrible if they so much as ask others to consider behaving morally, even though doing otherwise puts them in risk of punishment. Is that the “problem” of which you speak? “Sticks and stones”, remember.

            • diebuchen says:

There hasn’t been a problem because free thinkers refuse to let Chrisians make a problem! The best protection against religious intolerance is the US constitution which has been under attack from Fundamentalists for decades. Contrary to what Fundies say, America was founded on freedom of religion, NOT Christianity.

              • Robert says:

“There are those who think Christians are being horrible if they so much as ask others to consider behaving morally, even though doing otherwise puts them in risk of punishment.”

Thanks for proving my point. Still waiting for you to show a real,*significant* problem caused by real Christians lately. As I said, no Holy Wars, no Inquisitions… just attempts to keep people out of Hell, a loving thing to do. Hell isn’t going to hurt less for the people who, in life, pretended not to believe in it, btw.

The inability of some people to understand Christianity enough to respect it, amazes me. Or perhaps the thought of behaving morally is repugnant to them, as representations of the Cross supposedly are to vampires.

      • Gildedmuse says:

On the one hand, you differentiated between the NOI and other Muslim sects, and even know that the New Black Panthers are not the same as the original group. But then, I mean, did… Did you just call the KKK tolerant? Okay, sure, you said “more tolerant” but that’s like claiming neo-nazis are “more tolerant” because they only hate certain groups – look, it’s just a really awkward way to talk about a hate group. Also, the fact that you back it up by finding two racial minority groups that are “worse” did not help with the odd wording, even if put forth in all honesty.

        • Anonymous Coward says:

I didn’t mean to sound like I was endorsing the KKK by the comment they were “more tolerant” – I just pointed out that they hate fewer a smaller segment of the population than WBS!! Hate is hate, and it serves no positive purpose that I have ever been able to figure out.

I have no use for anyone who uses hate as their primary agenda. And growing up Catholic in a very rural area, I have had several bad experiences with the KKK or at least people pretending to represent them. But I’m not a minority by US standards, so I guess that makes it OK in most people’s minds.

      • Nate says:

Actually, the preacher for WBC was once one of the greatest civil rights lawyers in the country.

Until it was revealed that he was a hateful nutjob when he called some chick a slut and whore and everything during a trial, made it his central point during the trial, and was disbarred for doing it.

WBC is not racist, or even sexist. They’re just insane. They’re lead by a nutjob and most of them are his family who he raised to be a nutjob.
And actually they’re just extremely conservative and so self righteous they believe they’re the only people currently alive who will see heaven.

The KKK hates everyone but caucasians and gays. However they’re generally extremely patriotic rednecks; which WBC is most certainly not.

WBC is anti military, anti gay, and anti american.

        • diebuchen says:

          Nate,

Are you Nate Phelps? If you are we have talked before. For those of you who don’t know Nate Phelps, he is one of the four Phelps children who had the guts to get away from his father’s cult.

  3. Steevely says:

wow. just. wow. THESE are the christians that make all us others look bad. WAY TO GO RETARDS!

PS SCREW YOU WBC AND KKK!!! !YOU BOTH SUCK!

    • Em The Mildly Amazing says:

Actually, I’m having trouble believing they should be called ‘Christians’. Somehow, I have trouble believing god would approve of this sort of thing….

      • Daria says:

They look like the rest of you Christians to me. Old white people in out-of-date clothing carrying signs and telling the rest of us we’re going to your hell.

        • Ummm says:

No. Not at all. Any actual Christians don’t go around saying every religion is getting you sent to hell. And the Westboro Baptist Church said “Thank god for dead soldiers.” They wanted American soldiers in Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan to DIE. They also said EVERYONE IN THE WORLD (including Christians) are a part of the Devil’s family, and we’re going straight to Hell. ANY sane Christian would not say that. Most actual Christians go by the Bible’s “Love thy neighbor.” So don’t stereotype all Christians to be as hatefilled as crazier ones on TV make it seem.

          • Crumbs says:

And, funnily enough, ignore all the non-”love thy neighbor” parts of the bible.

            But, I agree.

          • Daria says:

            > ANY sane Christian

Contradiction in terms. Typical for the bibleheads.

            > Any actual Christians don’t go around saying every religion is getting you sent to hell.

Tell that to the Christians around here. Matthew 22:39 & Leviticus 19:18 have little to do with their behavior, which is more consistent with Malachi 2:3.

Most Christian sects have in their central tenets that only their sect is going to heaven, all others are deceived and going to hell. Read their Treatise sometime, that and not the bible is their TRUE beliefs. See which parts of the bible they cheerlead and which they conveniently ignore.

            • meltedgreenplasticarmyguy says:

A contradiction? Why does it always have to be Christians? Every single god damn religion out there has their own fanatics, it doesn’t matter what the f*** they are. We are all f***ing human, we all make mistakes.

The concept of religion is a good one, with great intentions, but as always a few bad apples want to ruin it for everyone.

I was a soldier, I have been to war. I know the horrors and the tragedy of war. Yet, I am still willing to fight and die for my ideals. Not once did I ever think my enemy was less than human. I may not agree with their ideals, but I can still respect them because they are willing to die for their beliefs. I thank my “Christian” or more specifically Catholic teachings for that.

In the words of John Stuart Mill “War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.”

              • notolaf says:

Liked it so much I dragged it to my desktop.

              • smooches says:

                That was beautifully said.

              • E.F says:

Yes, you’re a strong soldier who’s done wonders. Tell me, how many openly gay men do you know in the service?

I have a feeling that those men and women are stronger soldiers than you’ll ever be because they fight for a country where religion refuses them to be themselves, where they could be dishonerably discharged simply for loving someone (A rarity in this day and age).

So yes, ~Christians~ have it ~so~ bad.

                • Junta says:

                  @E.F.
“where they could be dishonerably discharged simply for loving someone”

People like you never seem to check their facts, people kicked out of the military for being gay do NOT receive a dishonorable discharge.

As for practicle application I have known and worked with several openly gay service members who do not get kicked out. Most people in the lower chain of command have no interest in don’t ask don’t tell as long as it doesn’t become a problem with harassment.

If I were to make an educated guess, it would be most people kicked out for being gay are infact not gay, and just troubled service members looking to get out of the military quickly with a honorable/admin discharge.

                • Bbebop says:

@Ef its not a dishonorable discharge. Actually, the military finds any sexual act other than missionary position illegal o_0 I think its silly XD

                • Jon Doe says:

                  Go back to your Room

            • Johnatan says:

I’m a christian and I don’t go around Telling people they’re going to hell because of religion. It’s called tolerance and I don’t care what religion people are from. Stop stereotyping. It’s pretty f****** annoying.

            • Dude says:

Unless I’m wrong, ‘Hell’ as we know it was an invention of the Medeval Church to keep the common people in line and themselves in power; Hell didn’t acutally exist in the form we know it as back when Christianity was founded.

I beleive that your second point is valid, but Ummm’s point is also true. It is important to remember that the Bible was written in a time when stories (such as the ones detailed within it) weren’t taken literally, so the Bible should be seen as less of a depiction of history and truth (as some extremists view it) and more of an outline/guide for living one’s life.

Just throwin that out there. Feel free to correct or challenge me on my arguements.

            • Jess says:

              Your hypocrisy BURNS, man.

“The people I’ve met all judge me based on views of who I must be, therefore, EVERY ONE OF YOU must conform to my view of who you must be and need to be mocked accordingly.”

If you’re trying to make a point, try not to let your blind stereotypes get in the way.

            • kurisu7885 says:

And you just gave atheists a bad name.

            • David says:

I’m guessing you live in one of the pockets of radical christians… All the christians I know are fine wearing T shirts and blue jeans, don’t cite the Bible when talking about philosophical topics, and don’t give a damn about anyone else’s choices. Not all christians are as… shall we say… “devoted” to christianity as those that make themselves obvious… and not everyone else claims christians are insane because of their religion. If you think someone is insane for holding beliefs without objective proof, you’re just as insane as they are.

              • fridechikin says:

no one is insane for holding beliefs without evidence. for example i think that my m8s would help me if i was in trouble even though it hasnt happened and i cant be 10% certain. christianity however id believing something despite evidence and that is completely different.

  4. Michael says:

    Harry Potter Firefox WIN

  5. Real and Straight says:

Harry Potter Firefox skins — too awful for anyone but Mac users.

  6. jamisings says:

I thought WBC was one of those joke sites that make fun of the phony Christians who make real Christians look bad.*

*(Fake Christians – people like Mel Gibson and Fred Phelps. Real Christians are ones who live by things like “Love thy neighbor” and “Do unto others” and remember that Jesus was a Jew so when you hate Jews, you hate Jesus.)

So it’s a “real church” and not a fake joke one?

God really needs to b**ch-slap some folks.

    • Skyfire says:

Well kinda. There’s an actual church, but 99% of the people in it are related to Fred Phelps, and they don’t really _do_ anything but troll soldier’s funerals and the like or sue (Fred and all his kids are lawyers, BTW) when someone tries to ban them from protesting and/or bashes in one of their inbred faces at a protest.

Not that I endorse banning idiots from making jackasses of themselves or beating them up for the same; the Phelps Phamily Phreak Show is a slimy pack of shysters , and I wish people would just ignore them.

      • kurisu7885 says:

They also trolled San Diego Comic Con, and got trolled back.

      • PseudoAnonymousCoward says:

When the widow of Rev Martin Luther King died, Westboro not only attempted (failed horribly) to protest her memorial service, they went as far as to send out mass hate mail via post.

        I mean WTF????

    • NCA says:

As one of the unfortunate people who had to grow up going to the same school as these folks, I can attest they are all too real. Arranging counter-protests with the local interfaith organization was fun though!

    • That Guy says:

      That’s why we have anonymous.

  7. Dirk says:

    Firefox Harry Potter Persona fail.

  8. Cloral says:

Just think if all those bigots used their energy for something good – they could accomplish so much.

  9. Aza says:

It’s funny that the KKK thinks the WBC is worse than them, but seriously, people, stop making demotes that are nothing more than restating what’s in the picture. The screen cap (minus the Harry Potter Firefox skin) is enough on it’s own. So you add a border and repeat the headline in a caption and refer to yourself as witty? Lazy plagiarism is not wit!

  10. Epictrollisepic says:

WBC and the KKK are pretty much on the same page. Though I’m not sure which hates gays more?

    • lolwut says:

      Mostly the WBC.

If my mind serves me correctly, the KKK only attacks blacks, asians and any colored-skin people.

Anyway, the best defense against the baptists are the nerds. http://www.comicsalliance.com/2010/07/22/super-heroes-vs-the-westboro-baptist-church/

      • Epictrollisepic says:

apparently, the KKK even hated white republicans (in around 1870). Basically they hate anyone who is “impure” and doesn’t agree with them. The difference? WBC preaches the bible, KKK preaches speech. (Like I said, pretty much in the same boat… my question is, why hasn’t the WBC also been claimed as a terrorist organization yet? They are pretty much on their way, if not, already there.)

        • Cloral says:

The WBC is already classified as a hate group. They can’t really be classified as terrorist as they haven’t threatened anyone with violence (at least as far as I know).

          • Anasazi Darkmoon says:

            I’ve heard that at least one of them has threatened to rape children at one of their rallies, because “God” said it was okay, because their parents were “f***s”, so they would deserve it. -_-;

        • Sue Do Nym says:

Well actually Republicans were the anti-KKK. The republican party was created to fight slavery. At the time, the Democrats were against giving blacks rights claiming that their culture was too different to merge with ours… Funny how the democrats have changed stances from anti-Black rights to calling Republicans racist.

          • Colin says:

I think the reason that the republicans have a reputation of being racist and the democrats don’t, is because in the 60s the GOP not only voted against, but filibustered civil rights for black people, and that was just recently.

            • BeukendaalMason says:

Actually it was the Democrats (mostly Robert Byrd) who attempted to filibuster the civil rights act (but a Democrat Prseident who was pushing it). The main reason that Republicans typically get called the “racist party” is because a few Democrats (Strom Thurmond) who were also racists eventually switched to Republicans when Goldwater put forth his “Conservative Strategy” and brought the southern states into a Republican lock. It also seems that the media has been much more willing to show and pursue claims of racism against Republicans then Democrats (even though many Democrats have made racist remarks of late…).

          • You says:

Even after freeing the slaves the republicans weren’t largely ready to make them equals though. Despite working with abolitionists, their main enemy was the confederacy and its succession. Slavery was in many ways a side issue in the differences of the North (R) and South (D). The funniest thing is how so many political parties use the same name as older ones.

      • Epictrollisepic says:

        Also, omg, Nerds<3333333

  11. grubby says:

This demotivational poster fails because of lack of originality. Why would someone have the tagline “too awful for the KKK” when it is already said in the picture? Lame.

  12. Kitsune Dragoon says:

Weren’t there WBC protestors outside of one of the larger Cons this year?

At least the KKK’s stupid is more consistent and they tend to stay farther away from the public eye than WBC, which tends to glory seek for their hate speech to the point of ridiculousness.

    • Ssyrie says:

Apparently they were in San Diego during Comic Con this year. They supposedly protested for about 45 minutes somewhere near the convention hall. I never saw them, and didn’t meet anyone who did.

      • Democratic Republican says:

wait, they’re at comic con? what are they protesting, twilight?

        • Oathy says:

They were there to protest the worship of false idols.

          • fanboy russ says:

Well that’s funny, bc I’m a Christian man studying to be a minister, and I and my sons enjoy collecting comics together. It’s all a matter of perspective.

          • tommy says:

I laughed then began to feel sad…..then read the comment and laughed agian.
These people are f***ing hilariously stupid.

        • Skyfire says:

Kids “worshiping” comic characters instead of (their version of) God, or some crap like that.
Really though, the WBC just LARPs as internet trolls. Here’s hoping one day they get on Anonymous’ bad side.

      • Teh_Faye says:

How they thought protesting at Comic-Con, or at any comic book/anime convention for that matter, was a good idea is absolutely hilarious. The first rule of protesting at a convention means you are accepting an automatic faceroll by any attendees that happen to see you. By proportion this is about 1/25th of everyone registered. This is proven by Fanime 2008. (It’s on Youtube if you’re curious.)

    • Onasariel says:

Yeah, comiccon. it was a small group, but the group protesting against them was huge XD

  13. Tim says:

WBC showed up at the funeral of the West Virginia minors that died in the mine collapse. Some good old WV boys showed them the error of their ways. THEN the WV state police arrested WBC for trespassing.

  14. The Neverending Twilight says:

Wow… that’s really friggen bad if even the KKK hates the WBC… and the KKK is pretty friggen bad… but the WBC? They just go BEYOND bad. There’s not even a word for how bad they are! Seriously… I’d need to think of a new word to describe how bad they are.

  15. that guy says:

these people protested at my school. its was pathetic, just a women and like 3 kids with funny signs

    • lolicaust says:

You should have thrown a stapler at her. The kids even said that the reason they hold the signs is because if they hold the signs then they don’t get hit.

  16. Myk says:

We are our own worst enemy when it comes to the WBC. If we as a unit would just ignore them (no more counter protests, no news coverage from the local news just because they showed up in your home town) they would go away. Seriously where else can 4 people protesting get so much video and news time. If any other group was protesting with just 4 people wouldn’t you just think “freaks” as you drove on by and wouldn’t you have forgotten what they were protesting by the time you got to the next red light?
That being said I, for one, will be at Fred Phelps funeral with a huge sign that reads “Fred is Dead. Thank God!” And it will be a huge party.

    • Anna Rexia says:

They will not simply go away. They will just ramp up their protests with even more disgusting acts. They know how to play the media and public opinion. One day, they will go too far and will mess with the wrong person/people. The day that Fred Phelps dies, you will not be the only one to celebrate. I’m sure the family of inbreds will do all they can to keep it under wraps, but word will get out and I can only imagine the signs that will show up in the area. For that matter, the signs that will be displayed world wide in celebration.

On that note, I reckon I should try to find where to buy one of those ugly tri-coloured poster boards. I should at least try to make mine look authentic.

    • Robert says:

Anyone else picture the funeral at the beginning of “Live and Let Die”?

  17. Nina says:

I think they should all hang themselves or cut themselves

  18. Galen75 says:

I used to be a devout Christian, Lutheran, to be specific, and I got so sick of seeing the way the people in the church treated people who had cultural/religious/ sexual preference that wasn’t “Christian”, I just stopped going. I think religeon was created to keep people from exterminating each other over trivial BS. Now it has been twisted so much, that million’s of extremists of many different creeds want to kill the non-beleiver. As a race, we are immature, and doomed to savagery, unless something unifies everyone, and I don’t ever see that happening.

    • Owner of Internets says:

one of the multiple reasons i became an atheist

    • emily says:

I am a christian & don’t agree with this at all. I believe God loves everyone, this is discrimination and it’s not what I believe. the people out there that are calling themselves christians and doing this must believe in a completely different God. this honestly is an embarrassment. this disgusts me on so many levels. You shouldn’t base a religion on a group of people’s actions. There’s people that go to church but aren’t believers. You can say you’re whatever you wanna be..but that doesn’t mean you are. I can honestly say that it says NO where in the Bible that He hates gays. It is however a sin in the Bible. BUT, unless you’re perfect & judge others for their sins, you have to be perfect first; which won’t happen. Maybe I should put God hates LIARS. GOD HATES STEALERS. GOD HATES CRIMINALS. GOD HATES DEMOCRATS. you can discriminate anything. But this is NOT what God wants at all. NOT at all. this is a disgrace.

      • mavisbeecon says:

“God loves everyone” except the people who don’t believe in him.

Ok, maybe he DOES love them sort of but he still sends them down under when they die (no, not australia.)

This is the main reason i stopped being christian, it’s how Marcus Aurelius stated “If there is a god, and he is unjust, then he does not deserve to be worshiped.” Paraphrased a bit, but that’s the gist.

      • Diebuchen says:

The reason you don’t believe in what the Phelps believe is you are not a Calvinist. Calvin, who thought up the idea of predestination to Hell, then ascribed it to God, was a twisted theologian who actually had a religious rival burned at the stake. He told those attending the burning to bring green wood. It took the poor man over an hour to burn to death. This is the theology Phelps proudly embraces. Why wouldn’t Phelps believe in a burning Hell for all but his group of equally twisted misfits? He is sadistic, and that accounts for his embrace of Calvinism.

  19. lolicaust says:

Maybe the KKK and the WBC will get in a big fight in the middle of a field and wipe each other out. I can dream can’t I?

  20. Justin says:

    God Hates the KKK!

    wait…wut?

  21. Tony says:

I love reading through these, watching people duke it out over “Stereotypes” of one type or another. Fact is that we can all get along, regardless of religion. I am Wiccan, my best friend is Baptist. Funny thing is, we hold the same ideas about people, life and the way others should be treated. I have two other friends, one is Mormon, the other is Islamic. Their views are the same as ours as well. The Problem are extremists. There are extremists in ALL branches (Daria, ALL branches of religion). That is where the dangerous people are. Christian, Jewish, Islamic, Baptist, Catholic, Wiccan, Conservative, Liberal it does not matter, if you are extremist, you are dangerous. Simple as that. The sooner we all come to that reality, the sooner we can purge our ranks of this dangerous element.

No matter the religion, whether the ones started in the middle east (Islam, Christian or Judeis) or “none of the above”

        (keyboard attacked by cat, sorry)

As I was saying, the basic tenets of organized religion is to be a decent person and treat others with respect.

We all know examples of various Christian churches as well as other groups that don’t do this. It’s basic human nature. –both to help others AND to hate thode different than one’s self in some way.

I’ve a good deal of experience in religious studies – mainly the “Big Three”
but also Wicca and other neopagan groups and as well as Atheism and Agnosticism.

Hate is not the sole property of any of the groups I’ve studied, nor is love or charity.
An example of this is to compare/contrast the Christian Bible, The Torah (and Talmud) and The Quran (and the lessons taught in other Islamic writings)

To know the real Phelps and Westboro Baptist Church, read the expose, Addicted to Hate!

It shows Phelps is a serial criminal who nearly beat a son to death, fleeced legal clients and was disbarred, and too many items of disgust to go into here.

  28. Perhaps there is any web site that might give u . s . a good a bunch of information and facts including the content claimed here? Kudos for the Idea…

  29. Diebuchen says:

To understand the true depravity of Fred Phelps and Westboro Baptist Church read LOVING GOD’S HATE and ADDICTED TO HATE. Among the many accusations: Phelps was an extreme wife and child beater, dishonest lawyer who was disbarred, forced his children to sell candy late at night and in bad weather to compensate for his not working, drug abuse, mistreatment of public employees and much more. Of interest to note; even though the Phelps family are sue-happy attorneys, Phelps has never sued the Topeka newspaper for libel.
