    Safari is my choice.
I like it a lot and I have to support it.

  5. Fruitty says:

Do people even use IE anymore?

    • juju113 says:

only after reinstalling windows to download firefox (:

    • ... says:

Only about half of people who browse the web (many of these are the same that believe that IE6 is the epitomy of browsing, without all of those nagging tabs, patched security holes, etc to worry about)

      30% use firefox

      10% use chrome

      5% use safari

      1.5% use opera

      3.5% use ??

      • Steve says:

Most useful thing I have ever programmed was a browser that the search bar would only go to the wiki page for it, practically resource nil. And I think only 5 computers have it… What I’m trying to say is there are things like that for your 3.5%

  6. MaxArt says:

    Mozilla Firefox.
Number one browser for downloading Google Chrome browser.

  7. ben says:

chrome runs very fast and smooth, and it is very reliable. better than IE and Firefox where 30% of your screen is extra toolbars at the top.

    • Dan says:

There’s a handful of add-ons/adjustments that can be used to simplify the toolbars. My Firefox window looks much like my Chrome window.

    • jklinders says:

toolbars? What toolbars? I ask only because the most sensible thing to do when prompted to install a toolbar is to say “no”.

      • ClariPossum says:

Except it doesn’t work with the yahoo toolbar. I installed yahoo messenger recently, and I even un-checked that box, but it STILL put the stupid toolbar on the computer.

Thank goodness for the “add or remove programs” function. XD

    • conualfy says:

It’s the main reason I also use Chrome (when not using FireFox, my main browser). The space is better managed in Chrome.

But you can do some things to FireFox as it is really flexible: install an addon for minimizing the menu (it makes it a small button), move the Bookmarks Toolbar next to the Address Toolbar and then hide the original empty toolbar. I have the small button for menu, function (back/reload/home) buttons, Address Toolbar, Bookmarks Toolbar and Google search box on the same and only toolbar I use in Firefox. Now I have a lot more space.

  8. Just some chick says:

I use IE for some stuff still, but I’ve pretty much converted to Google Chrome.

  9. The awesome guy says:

    So friggin true. FireFox rocks.

  10. RiteInUrEye says:

What no love for Netscape Browser?

  11. f4113nx says:

    Google Chrome

  12. rebelmk says:

Google Chrome is one large keylogger sending every keyboard click of yours to Google Inc.

    Go Firefox!

    • jeez says:

reason i dont use it… dont like to use EVERYTHING from google from search engine to browser, possibly smartphone…

    • Czarwill says:

Naww s**t man the corporation is watching you!

But seriously that’s like saying windows is a large keylogger sending information back to microsoft to make your operating system more efficient.

  13. AssViolator says:

The number one browser for downloading a new browser.
    Your argument is invalid.

  14. HolzBeinFaust says:

Firefox for Developing… for everything else: OPERA

  15. Bignboo says:

    Here comes combobreaker:
    Opera

  16. The Neverending Twilight says:

I persernally use Internet Explorer, because it’s my favorite. Hey… I’ve been using it for most my life, so I can’t really change something that I know how to use.

    • The Joe says:

I know what you mean. Having to change your habit of double clicking one icon and now clicking another icon instead is a life changing experience.

    • IE Needs to Die says:

You belong on Failblog. Now get off our internetz.

    • AssViolator says:

IE: for tweens or people with heavy retardation.

    • conualfy says:

What do you know so well on IE?

Bookmarks are the same (actually in IE they are called Favorites)
Address Bar is a bar where you write the address to navigate to; it can’t be different
Refresh/Back/Home Buttons are just some buttons, the same functionality.
The search bar is a bar where you enter some words to search for in Google/etc.
Almost everything is done easier and faster in Firefox (for emptying cache/etc. you can use ca keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+Del).

After a day using FireFox or Chrome you won’t like going back to IE.

I don’t see what is so different in using another browser, especially Firefox, as it’s built to help people coming from IE, it even has a help menu for them.

  17. cacad says:

Google Chrome. The number one browser for downloading Internet Explorer.

  18. BoringTroll says:

I usually use Internet Explorer with addons disabled to install Chrome.
I sell used computers, so I install chrome often.

If I had the chrome installer on a thumbdrive, I wouldn’t need IE at all.

    • RLLBcheese says:

well put it on a flash drive then. it’s not hard!
i never use the same browser for more than a month. i’m constantly switching between chrome, opera, safari, firefox (IF i decide to use chatzilla), maxthon, space time, lunascape etc. The only time i ever use IE is to download chrome when i wipe my hard drive. i’m browser mad. beat that!

  19. geekay says:

Abandoned IE some years ago – now mostly use Chrome with Firefox as a no. 2 browser for the sites that don’t work in Chrome (it’s the sites’ fault, not Chrome’s)

Using this combo on Win XP, Vista and 7 (Netbook, desktop and laptop repectively) and Ubuntu Linux on a laptop.

  20. RuBear says:

    Opera!!!!!!!
    +100

  21. johnishida says:

    Firefox FTW!!

  22. Athanar says:

IE is actually a developer’s nightmare with how little it follows regulations for opening pages properly.

  23. Ronald says:

So true….I ALWAYS use Internet Explorer to download another browser. Unless i already have that other browser…then i don’t need to download another browser.

  24. legend-in-my-own-mind says:

Kids that think they are cool kids like Chrome, people who are serious about internet safety, but use a pc anyway :p use Firefox. Old folks, and people who don’t know any better use IE, Nerds and those who are into internet safety use Safari on an apple, people who think they are cool kids, but are stuck 4 years in the past use Opera.

    • Me says:

Nerds who are into internet safety use safari on an apple…

Now you’re just trolling, aren’t you? Everyone knows linux is the safest of them all, the most lightweight of them all and most indie of them all. No where near a nerd would touch an apple.

Apple are for housewives and bratty children who rather look at the looks than the specs.

      • David says:

No, macs are for people who look past specs and pay attention to things like build quality, reliability, stability, and if it’s a laptop… a multi touch trackpad that actually works as advertised.

And don’t pull that “I build my own” crap. You can’t just compare Ghz numbers, you have to use the same components. I’ve tried, and I can’t get the parts necessary to build a mac pro killer (12 core xeon w/ up to 32 gigs ECC RAM) with a comparable warrantee for a significantly lower cost than a mac pro, and that’s not taking into account the lack of iLife (which I actually use for more than just making pro-mac arguments) lack of comparable case (the mac pro is divided into compartments for better cooling, a motherboard with 2 of the correct sockets won’t fit into a thermaltake level 10, water cooling is a cop out… you’re practically begging to have to buy another rig ASAP… apple was the first to offer a pre built machine with water cooling, and the first to GTFO.) and the time lost actually building the damn thing and making linux do everything I can do on Mac OS… it’s just a f**king waste of time, and time is money.

I play around with linux, sure, but it’s nothing more than a toy when you think about the fact that it’s actually cheaper to build a supercomputer by clustering macs… :P

    • Big Nerd says:

Nerds don’t use computers from Apple. I once dreamed I had to use a Mac. What a nightmare!

    • Real and Straight says:

      You misspelled “Terds” there.

    • GothicMonkey says:

I’d like to agree with the other chaps on this point…

Apple just in general… sucks bill gate’s balls

    • G.I.Geoff says:

Seriously? Apple? SAFE? No. Just no. In the pwn2own contest (translate that as Hack to own for simplicity) the mac is ALWAYS the first computer to fall. In a record breaking 10 SECONDS last contest. Safari is right up there with IE in terms of lack of safety. So be smart. Get windows and any browser except safari or IE. Or Linux (preferably Linux mint) and any browser you want. Don’t be an elitist douche bag. Get something with POWER!

    • Drew says:

You have it the other way around. People who are stuck in the past DON’T use Opera. Google some benchmarks for Opera 10.50 and Opera 10.60. Opera is blazing fast now.

  25. Tomcat says:

Went to Chrome from IE. I didn’t have many problems with IE, I just fancied a change.

  26. justsomeguy says:

there is so little difference between them all.
enough to have a favorite but not nearly enough to bother boosting the one you use like it matters.

  27. apache says:

    browser is not philosophy

  28. il duderino says:

    CHROME!

  29. oldlaptop says:

    Seamonkey forever!

  30. yep says:

    true. :D
Chrome, Opera, Firefox. in that order. thank you Explorer for providing other browsers. :P

  31. uzuhl says:

Lol, my new laptop I bought didn’t even come with IE, it came with Chrome xD

  32. legend-in-my-own-mind says:

Chrome, when you trust google! We all know they are sooooo trustworthy, and would never snoop on us!

  33. dodong says:

But IE loads faster than firefox.

    • conualfy says:

Half of it it’s always running in your Windows, that’s why it seems to load itself faster.

You only do that once in a few hours, but loading pages you do hundreds of times.

Last editions of Firefox loads quite ok and page browsing is very very fast + you have thousands of Addons to customize and improve it as you wish.

  34. somerandomguy says:

IE9 is a replica of Google chrome right…? So, Bing (Because It’s Not Google) chrome…

  35. GothicMonkey says:

I’m guessing bill gates has taken over your brain… here, let me fix that for you…

    • iceprototype says:

you can’t do that because anything related to microsoft fills your brain with more crap than a sewer

      • mavisbeecon says:

Ill take my somewhat glitchy microsoft stuff over mac’s things that i have to pay 3 times as much for.

        • McTotally says:

Who says he’s talking about Mac? There are more than 2 operating systems out there.

        • Alhadis says:

Hey Mavis: You’re in luck, because you don’t need to pay anything to afford a better browser. Firefox, Safari, Chrome and even friggin’ Opera are all free for download.

Just so everybody knows, us web developers are getting pretty sick and tired of supporting Internet Explorer. The longer you force yourselves to use a s**t browser, the sooner sites will start looking blander, and chunkier, and plainer, than if you’d be viewing them on a competent browser.

          • conualfy says:

            Fully agree with Alhadis.

I don’t support IE6 any longer for the web sites I make, it does not worth the effort. Reports on browsers usage look better every day, in Europe Firefox leading already in many countries.

            • conualfy says:

One more thing: all sites buit on WordPress should use a plugin like No More IE6! Please do that and maybe make it No more IE7 also!

  36. blahlblah says:

    Lynx is the best! :)

  37. GothicMonkey says:

I’m trying to convert my boyfriend off IE… He just wont listen D:

  38. Sumeron says:

I use Firefox, with chrome appearance addon, coral-IE tab, and the possibility to use favorite startpage like google Chrome, so I don’t need to switch browsers.

The speed of FF, the possibility for IE with ABP, and appearance of Chrome/

  39. spoonover says:

IE6 ftw. All those sites that tell me to update, blow me!

    • IO says:

Most developers would, but not the way you imagine and it involves pain.

You won’t have sites to watch soon enough as most of us will stop supporting your IE6. Those sites will look like sh*t and will not work. I’ve built already some.

    • RP says:

This comment is an outright lie. There’s no such thing as people who use IE6 by preference. The people still using IE6 are only using it at work because their employer built systems specifically to work with that browser and they haven’t fixed it yet.

My company no longer supports IE6, thank goodness. It was a huge time suck to hack correct, standard code to make it work in IE6 and it made no sense to support such an insecure browser.

  40. Critter Rhode says:

I can’t believe all the people using a browser to download another. I skip IE and just open a command prompt and ftp mine.

  41. Jake says:

    IE Firefox/Opera. And IE Firefox/Opera > IE.

Google Chrome 1 Beta is way much better than IE9 Beta.

  42. Chromedrone says:

I havent used “IE” in so long that it stop working on my pc, wont even open when i click on it lol

  43. xizwyck says:

Wonder how many commentators actually compare the browsers (BTW, I’ve used them all). Not hatin’, just sayin’.

  44. none says:

    IE9
Now it’s fast, reliable, and has the best Protected Mode on Vista/7 for higher security also on still unknown malware.

  45. unrealdude says:

Safari is the top rated in terms of speed, add ons, customer satisfaction, etc. with FF and Chrome close behind. I’m on a Mac so I use Safari and I love it! I’ve tried IE, FF, Chrome, and Opera just to see and I don’t really like any of them as much as Safari, but everyone has a right to an opinion. :D

  46. carewcasanova says:

Why do you say that i am using this or that. Or this is number one. I think IE, Firefox and Chrome are beneficial in some areas. Of course some never know this.

  47. mavisbeecon says:

Stuff like firefox and chrome are great if you take care of your computer and do regular cache wipes and the like, however if you don’t take care of this stuff in my experience firefox ends up almost freezing the computer, all because my mom doesn’t understand the meaning of Quickclean and History Cache Deletion. IE lasts a long time, yes its slower than them all at first but it keeps its value in the long run, so i run firefox myself and i tell my parents to use IE because it doesn’t seem to slow everything up when not maintained.

  48. Stef says:

I used IE to download Firefox and when that got too slow I used FF to download Avant which was also slow then I went back to FF temporarily before downloading Chrome which I love. Although Safari is an adequate back up :D

  49. JoRi B says:

Tried CHROME it can not play flash movies on a lot of sites, will not let you rename links on your desk top, .If I use anything other than IE , then my system dies within 2 weeks of viruses and I have refomat, and re-install WINDOWS.
On APPLE I hate that over priced, underperforming crap for trendster retards so much that , I Will not even own an iPOD. But as far as I know WINDOWS and IE has more minor flaws, but APPLE OS and browsers have more major/ critical system killer flaws.

    • MrHaxx1 says:

Are you kidding me? Then learn to browse the web, cause i haven’t used IE for years, and the only reasons i had to reinstall Windows, was NOT something related to my browser.

      • JoRi B says:

        Well bully for you.
I am not telling people to use IE just saying what my experience is with other browsers.
If you are totally gay for your non MS browser that is fine. But do not get p*ss*d with others who do not goatsie themselves to your pet browser.
Thing is if you want the most fully functioning, and non hassle browser it has to be IE unless you use QuickTime as your media viewer, and iTUNES for your music player. CHROME seems to work really well for this, until the viruses, malware, adware, SPYWARE and all the rest of that crap gets through your firewall, 3 anti virus, adware, malware, spyware blockers, killers, removers apps thanks to CHROME . Whilst using IE all that keeps my system safe. So hmm I forget how to use the web when I am using other than IE that is so logical—not.
To be fair I have pretty much only used most other browsers whilst they were in BETA, and did not like them. CHROME is the 1 I used recently( which killed my system again for the 3rd time).
Also if IE is so bad why does SONY use it on the PS3, considering that it is from their rival who is beating them in this/ next gen gaming ?????

        • IO says:

MrHaxx1, don’t worry about him. He is smarter than thousands of security expert in the world and millions of people using Firefox and Chrome without any problem (I cannot say the same about IE users).

The good thing is that in EU next windows don’t have IE preinstalled, it asks you which one you want to install (Firefox/Chrome/Ie/etc.). I’m waiting for this to be standard.

        • piedar says:

          1) You clearly have no idea how computer security works.
          2) You clearly have no idea what a firewall is.
          3) The PS3 most certainly does not use IE. It uses a browser called NetFront.

  50. MrHaxx1 says:

Even though i hate Internet Explorer, Internet Explorer 9 is kinda awesome.
Yes, it reminds me of a Chrome ripoff, but i find the webpage loading ALOT faster.
But i prefer Firefox, because of all the awesome addons.

  51. InSecret says:

    FireFox rulzzzzz

  52. HaHa says:

I once installed firefox on everyone’s work computer and then changed the firefox icons to internet explorer icons.

    No one knew the difference.

Internet explorer is the worst browser, and is always behind in supporting current development practices. Traditionally, it has been the VHS player, while web developers want to produce Blue Ray.

  53. tincan says:

Firefox for general browsing (like here), while Chrome for homework (since my uni’s website crashes with FF occasionally and I have no friggin’ clue why)

  54. Preece says:

*reminisces over netscape navigator* Ah the good old days.

  55. police says:

You guys steal from motifake.com a lot.

  56. Ravenspen says:

Normally I would agree. Internet explorer 5-8 are horid compared to firefox or even chrome. Not at all standards compliant, buggy as all heck, insecure and bloated just to name a few of their faults.

Internet explorer 9 though is a totally different beast. It’s like the difference between Windows 7 and Windows Me. Too bad Microsoft seems intent to restrict it to Vista and Windows 7, but it’s a good browser.

I’m sure Microsoft will still figure out how to screw it up before it officially launches, but so far they seemed to remember suddenly how to code a genuinely good product again.

  57. Iris says:

“The number one browser for downloading a better browser.”

I totally agree! This is what my IE was used for every time I installed a new Win OS but never thought of it this way!

this sentence should be a quote!

    :) )

  58. william says:

i skip the whole process and have the installer for chrome and firefox on a pen drive. i use firefox mostly mainly cause of the addons like noscript grease monkey and adblock plus, and the fact i can force the text and background colour to look like a green screen, green text/boarders and black background

  59. John says:

Too bad that IE9 and IE10 are better than the competitors. microsoft finally did it right.

  60. GWAdmin says:

I use Chrome 13 and IE 9/10 depending on what I need to do. With the release of IE9 it doesn’t matter what browser you use any more…It all depends on personal preference…also there is a way to make the advanced CSS stuff work on IE 9> its something to do with create IE css class or something…I dont remember because I havent actually coded HTML in a LOOOOONG time…

  61. X says:

    Google Chrome all the way.
