Because police officers aren’t allowed to do anything in their free time at work if there’s nothing assigned…if it weren’t this, people would be making fun of them for eating donuts. Not that I don’t think that the majority of cops aren’t corrupt, they are, but this points that out for the wrong reasons. It was someone looking for a reason to criticize a cop.

Actually police only have to train 2 times a year with 50 rounds each.
During the great obama gun rush ammo was so scarce some PD’s were buying the “civilian” supply making the strain even worse and putting there own orders in 18 months in advance.
Oddly enough the ammo they use in there service weapons is for police use only yet easily obtainable by anyone.
Actually, in my state, we qualify with our firearms only once per year. However, if that is the only time you train with your firearm, you will likely have problems qualifying. You get 60 rounds and have to score 96 points at a minimum to qualify. Hitting the target is worth 1 point. Hitting center mass is worth two points. The shots are divided between different ranges and stipulations (25 yards, 15 yards, 7 yards, 4 yards, and 2 yards with requirements like 6 shots in 10 seconds one hand only, two shots in two seconds from the close quarter position [elbows against the body, can't bring your weapon to eye level, the two seconds includes your draw]). You can hit the target every single shot and still not qualify if none of them are center mass since you would only score 60/120 and the minimum score is 96/120. So far, my highest qualification run was 116… four of my twelve shots from 25 yards (75 feet) hit outside center mass (two in the head, one in the right shoulder, one in the left arm) which is enough to get a marksmanship award with most departments, but still short of the elusive perfect score you need to qualify as marksmanship expert.
