This is almost exactly what my neighbor is like exept without the giant machine g-… oh wait this is exactly like my neighbor.

Bren machine gun, British ww2. required a carrier and shooter. Firing these guns caused ears to bleed over time apparently.

US marines on the pacific island modified 30 cals that came out of downed bombers to be shoulder fired with m1 stocks.
None the less, look at the bi-pod, it is the same as that of the WWII German MG-42 pictured in http://www.museumoftechnology.org.uk/expand.php?key=486
and the flash suppressor is correct for it as well, and the ammo matches the size and shape of the 7.92 X 57MM Mauser rounds used in it as well.
um, no, it’s not the same, the mg42 bipod is attached to the lower side of the barrel, while on this weapon it is attached on the upper side. apart from that fact i agree that it looks a lot like the mg42.
besides, the ’42 is fed from the left side, not the right
not the bren, it would require major changes in order to transform it from box fed to belt fed. I have never heard of a single case where that was done with that weapon. it is far easier to change the stock of a weapon than the feeding system. So i find it very unlikely
this mg, alik many other mgs, have a muzzleflash supressor(or whatever it’s called in english, which is cone-shaped. therfore the muzzle looks bigger than the barrel actually is. so the ammobelt is right for this gun
The ammo actually consists of cats. I’m sure she has plenty of them for that purpose.
thats called a muzzle, and it isn’t usually the thickness of the actual barrel.
No it’s called a flash suppressor, the muzzle is inside it, a good 4 inches back from the end of the cone shaped flash suppressor.
I think it’s a WWII Bren Gun, in which case it’d be the right ammo. They had a flared barrel that would seem a bit too wide for the bullets at first glance.

I do know, and doggie015 is way low in his guess, the gun in question is a WWII German MG-42, capable of firing 7.92 X 57mm Mauser cartridges at a rate of fire between 1,200 and 1,500 rounds/minute. Although not capable of sustained fire at that rate due to the barrel overheating, it would still be best to listen to the crazy old coot.
ok mr wikipedia, tell me why the bipod here is attached on the upper side of the barrel, instead of under the barrel, like on the mg42?

Er, due to my… attraction to WWII, I’d have to say that the barrel is not correct for an MG-42. Yes, there is a flash suppressor. However, it is usually much bigger in diameter than the actual barrel. This one is about 1.5x the barrel, not large enough. Also, the entire weapon appears to be too small in general. It looks as if the old man is using some kind of short belt-fed assault rifle.
@The guys saying the Bren LMG: Er… the Bren Gun had a 30 round top mounted clip, it wasn’t belt-fed.
I agree that this may be a small grenade launcher. Notice hot the rounds do not actually connect with the gun, they appear to stop in mid-air next to the right bipod leg.

i never said it was an mg42, the bipod is wrong for that. I just said that the flash supressor is not too small to be an mg42.

as for the size of the muzzle on the gun itself, its hard to say anything because of the perspective. but the muzzle IS big enough to be an mg42. 1.5x the barrel would be 12mm, and this is alot more than that. but i dont think its a 42. bipod is wrong. and it does kinda look shopped, look at her fingers..
