ratings update faster than views. But you can’t go a day without hearing some retarded n00b point it out like they’d discovered a gold coin in their butthole.
Lotsa video’s that are newly uploaded do this, if they get very popular in a short time lapse. Ever heard of RayWilliamJohnson? All of his new vids do that, say 300 views, have tons of likes/dislikes.
Views aren’t updated as often as ratings. Although I don’t know why I would even say this because no matter how many times you say it someone still tries to look clever by saying exactly what this poster is meant to say. Then all the other idiots gather round to laugh and talk about how it doesn’t make any sense.
Once the view count hits 300, it stops updating live, and it’ll read 300 (or, more often, a number slightly above 300) for a while and then update periodically after that. It’s a load-reduction thing.
After 300 views is actually when their anti-view-cheat-thing kicks in. All views after 300 are checked to make sure they don’t match up with IPs or usernames of previous viewers. This makes sure that people can’t use spambots or similar apps to cheat for higher view counts.
But as you said, it only updates view counts again after a while. Videos with particularly heavy viewing load may not update views for several hours.
Not much, apparently. I’ve been visiting YouTube for quite some time and I have never heard of this.
That said, I don’t go there all that much (maybe a couple times a day? Sometimes not at all), and I have never paid much attention to the views/likes/dislikes numbers, which is probably the main reason I never knew this. I also don’t pay much attention to comments on the videos I watch.
So if you make this comment on Youtube everyone calls you a noob and downthumbs you. Here, you get featured and get a thousand plus thumbs up.
Y’know how we all joke about how the commentors on Youtube are the dumbest on the internet?
I’m not saying the kids on Memebase and Very Demotivational are dumb or anything, it’s just… no, that’s pretty much exactly what I’m saying.
(Before you point out that I’m on here, that is a stupid thing to say. The vast majority of people here are dumb is what I’m saying. Like the ones that allow “Still Not as Gay As Twilight” to live long after everyone glowed over that gay person’s plea for us to stop. The fact that this has over two hundred thumbs down means we’re not all morons, and even if I am a troll and a loser and an idiot, which I am, that does not invalidate this comment)
I know that this probably isn’t much of an accomplishment, but I still feel a need to salute you for your seemingly pitch-perfect insight into the Memebase zeitgeist.
(And no, I’m not being sarcastic. I really WAS amused.)

This isn’t exactly hard to figure out.

How much of a noob do you have to be to not know that view and rating are not updated at the same time?
Not much, apparently. I’ve been visiting YouTube for quite some time and I have never heard of this.

Haha what a noob! He didn’t do enough research on a meme to realize that everybody who spends too much time on the internet already knows this!
Seriously, this is a moderator fail. Let the “noob” off the hook and stop thinking so highly of yourselves for knowing random internet quirks.
youtube: not even once
*maths
english vs american spelling.
So we meet again. :squinches eyes:
Seriously? After 2+ years of YouTube doing this, people STILL point it out?
WHY HAVENT PEOPLE REALIZED VIEWS DONT UPLOAD AS QUICK AHHHHHH RAGEEERAGEGA aasdnhhhhhhhng
Simple programming errors. something youtube constantly gets and fixes.
It’s not an error, it’s to prevent view spamming for more hits.
Not only is there one smart ass who has to point that out in every video. No now you have to do that even in a meme. God will punish you for this.
The views and the ratings are updated in a different way. Even my grandmother knows this.
FAIL !!
Hi Hakan! This is a funny website you have here. Did you make it? Now what do I fill in at Email? What is an email?
