Okay, fine, I’ll give you another +1 internetz for including two awesome movies.
Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt? Pretty sure anyone who’s done a quick google search has none of the above; at least uncertainty and doubt. All of about 5 minutes of google told me everything I need to know about ACTA (well, more than that. I do enjoy to be informed) and how it’s worse than PIPA and SOPA would have been. Yes, piracy is a problem, but how are these acts not overstepping what the government is meant to do?
The greater concern isn’t about any individual government’s ability to police its own IP, no, the greater concern is the “one world” police state that ACTA creates.
Libertarians should be decrying this as the very essence of the “entangling alliances” that Thomas Jefferson warned us about.
Obviously people who know what ACTA is about are making these kinda statements.

YAY for more fear mongering! ACTA does not do a whole lot more than stand as an agreement that copyright holders are able to enforce their copyrights in a more uniform manner across the world (or at least within the signatory countries).
It formulates DUE PROCESS for putting infringers on notices and for the removal of said material. It does very little beyond what the current DCMA lays already do in the US.

This is the key difference that makes ACTA tolerable. ACTA preserves due process. SOPA/PIPA does not.

Bills like SOPA, PIPA, and ACTA are to internet piracy as the Patriot Act, and Presidential Emergency Powers are to terrorism. They accomplish their objective at the expense of individual civil liberties guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.
