  1. What, like a gnargoyle it only looks good in the dark?

  2. no no no says:

Ha ha ha. Wow. That’s a pretty fancy big building you boys got there. Ha ha ha. Omaha.

  3. Chrisman 007 says:

I would’ve thought there would be more machine gun nests, sea and sand for omaha.

  4. waitwhat? says:

so we are finally living at a time when photos are no longer media

  5. Rath says:

Well both are accurate. the picture on the right is downtown the picture on the left looks like several neighborhoods heading west from downtown.

  6. conf says:

    …. where?

  7. Fixer says:

Dammit, I can barely see the Woodman Tower! Get a better photo, please!
At least I know that this IS, indeed, a photo of Omaha (I live in Omaha).

    • ayup says:

^has driven through Omaha…missed most of it cause I blinked.

Glad to see they captured almost all 10 buildings in Omaha. Only thing missing is Nebraska Furniture Mart.

  8. Lord Muck says:

I’ve always imagined Hell as being an infinitely repeating Omaha.

  9. Pariah_Zero says:

The problem, of course, is that both are accurate; Omaha is mostly like the one of the left (run-down suburbia), with the photo on the right being the glitzy downtown that sucks down all the taxpayer funds.

You know – the 99% on the left, and the 1% on the right.

    • Justice says:

More like those who stayed in school and lurned proper egrish….

I was in Omaha once, and you’re right. However, I was in Omaha once, and you’re definitely wrong.

    • Jason says:

Considering this is Warren Buffett’s hometown, I’m not too surprised.

  10. drat says:

It is true that people on either coast think that the Midwest is just a bunch of outhouses, cows, and churches. And then they think the people from the Midwest are the closed-minded ones who don’t know about the rest of the world. It’s natural for people to look down on those different from themselves in order to boost their own egos.

  11. Khan says:

I was actually surprised at how beautiful Omaha/Council Bluffs was when I drove through it for the first and only time. It’s only an impression, but it really didn’t match the Omaha of my imagination.

  12. Dude, really says:

Daren did you put this up here?

  13. Jeff in St Louis says:

Sorry, but who cares? This is the worst poster ever because the subject matter is not only humorless, but also boring.

  14. JOE. says:

lol, too bad papillion is better than omaha. but basically, when your not in omaha or its suburbs, your in hick towns. how do i know? I LIVE HERE. please save me. :(

    • The same goes for Lincoln (I’d know, I live there) and a select few other communities. What few cities you find in Nebraska are like islands surrounded by a sea of corn fields and their farm villages.

It’s true that rural communities tend to be conservative, including religiously, hence the stereotype of a buncha churches churning out a buncha close-minded individuals. And since the Midwest has probably the highest percentage of people who live in rural communities as opposed to urban ones, it’s hardly any wonder why hicks and rednecks are considered to be the number one representative of states like Nebraska.

      Especially Nebraska.

  15. nabend1401 says:

Wow… the things you can build out of corn…

  16. From Los Angeles says:

Still don’t want to go to omaha

  17. Luke says:

That is the downtown area. Go immediately north or south of downtown Omaha and suddenly you would think you are in south central LA. Total, absolute GHETTO!

  18. Bob says:

Meanwhile the rest of us in Denver laugh at your tall building.

    • suckit says:

      Denver? Really? LOL okay.

    • Jason says:

I’ve been to Denver. I’m not impressed. Your omelets suck, your thin air sucks, your snow sucks, your Rockies suck, your Nuggets suck, and your Tebows, I mean, your Broncos suck. Oh yeah, almost forgot about the Avalanche. Guess what, they suck too.

  19. natalie says:

hmm a few small buildings doesn’t cut it. I live in a really suburban city, but if you look at our website it looks like it’s some bustling metropolitan area.

  20. Nala says:

I am from Omaha. It’s a beautiful city. This might not be funny or anything, but it’s the freakin’ truth. Thank you, whoever made this!

  21. amanda says:

Actually, the “tall” building is the tallest between Minnieapolis and Denver. Bigger than any building in St. Louis or KC. Did a college paper on it. And most of you people bashing on Omaha have probably never been to it. I live in the metro east of St. Louis and prefer Omaha over St. Louis.

  22. mr oblivious says:

Cities are never depicted accurately in films or on tv. Probably has to do with the fact that most movies, are shot in Vancouver.

p.s. I find this poster lame

  23. mDREAMm says:

I live in Eastern Europe and if we have such buildings we will be happy.
Wait… that was supposed to be funny.

  24. Sashiul says:

    Omaha? What’s Omaha?

    • Devin says:

O-maha moon, keep shining on, Omaha keep shining down.
We’d like it if you wouldn’t shine on Council Bluffs, or for that matter
      Any other town.
Omaha moon, we heard that you shined on Cedar Rapids last June.
We’ll thank you to remember that you are a one-town moon.
Don’t forget, your name is Omaha Moooon!

  25. Tuna says:

Where’s all the snow?! Cause we have a lot of it right now!

  26. Katie says:

I live in Lincoln, NE. It’s a little smaller than Omaha and doesn’t have hardly any tall buildings, the capital is probably it. And just so you know, people aren’t all that close-minded. Nebraska has the highest percentage of homosexuals. Also, funny story. I went to Denver and this girl asked me if I rode a cow to school and when I said no, she asked if I rode my tractor. That’s not legal! We’re the same as everyone else.

    • Relax, enjoy all the misconceptions while you can. I get a huge kick out of seeing how many people I can fool into thinking we only just got electricity figured out back in the nineties!

Besides, we Nebraskan urbanites are the odd ones out when it comes to the overall population, so sadly, despite how modern rural areas truly are, the stereotype is a long way from dead.

      • NOLA_Husker says:

Nebraska urbanites are far from the minority. About one million people live in the Lincoln and Omaha metro areas. There is less than 2 million people in the state. Do some basic math. As for stereotyping who cares? I grew up in Nebraska and there are truths to some of it. I live in New Orleans now and plenty of people think we all live in stilted houses and use air boats to get to work. People are stupid and generally misinformed.

    • Edie says:

City ordinance and possibly state legislation prevents any building in Lincoln being taller than the capital, in fact I think it cannot be within 10 stories of the capital to allow the capital to show as the tallest building. And in rural Nebraska it is legal, and not unlikely, to see someone drive their tractor to school. (I’m from rural Nebraska and I lived in Lincoln for 8 years).

  27. Bob says:

Iowa gets worse representation. It’s always just vast nothingness, even when it’s supposed to be one of the big towns.

    • Jason says:

I used to live in Iowa a long time ago. When did you get big towns?

    • Missing says:

Maybe that has something to do with the sheep outnumbering the people? In Omaha, we used to say Iowans were “In Omaha Without Authorization” or “Idiots Out Wandering Around” . I lived in Omaha, Bellevue, Papillion Fremont and Lincoln for about 8 years. Overall, Nebraska is an easy place to live even when you are on the streets or a market-rat, people are friendly, and only rarely do you find people dead and stuffed into the apt building clothes drier.

  28. MySinfulGusta says:

Ive been there 3 times, its like picture number two on like, one stretch of buildings. Its really spaced out like in picture one over 75% of it.

  29. John says:

    Go Bluejays!
    #12 in the nation.

  30. Em says:

Hm… since when is a picture next to the airport (which is actually considered to be council bluffs) relevant to Omaha?

    • DragonSEL says:

The airport is not in CB. IDK where you got that idea. The pic is relevant to Omaha because it’s in Omaha. If you don’t believe me, go drive around and actually look at the scenery.

  31. brogan says:

The one on the left is actually more like Council Bluffs… but as an Omaha native I can admit that our downtown is not quite as pretty as that picture suggests.
But to that 99%/1% guy, obviously you’ve never been West of 90th. It gets a lot cleaner and newer.

  32. Retroman000 says:

I live in Omaha, and to be honest it does look more like the picture on the left.

  33. Megster says:

In comparison to every other city I’ve been too, Omaha may as well be the pic on the left…. and I live there >__<

  34. Levi Flagg says:

Oh yeah. West 90th is an amazing place to guy. I live in Bellevue, which is a Suburb of Omaha.

  35. toodamnhigh says:

Im actually just a stones throw away from omaha :)

  36. Laura says:

I’ve lived here my entire life, and both of these are Omaha, just depends where you’re going. There are fancy areas with huge houses, and there are run-down ghettos. And there’s the Old Market downtown, which is a fantastic mix of historic Omaha and brand new Omaha. :D And yeah, Warren Buffett lives here, but he lives a pretty modest life actually. He has a fairly big house, but no frills, no fancy car, and he eats at Petrow’s and McDonald’s lol.

  37. 402 says:

    *402* REPRESENT

  38. Alex says:

To all of you making comments about our one tall building: I’d personally rather have that than the many enormous buildings of NY or LA or any other larger city. They make me feel claustrophobic.

    • seal says:

Ditto. I grew up in Omaha and moved to Middle-of-Nowhere, Iowa (now in craptastic Des Moines) and love the space. I visited a few larger cities and didn’t like it so much. My parents weren’t kidding about being able to reach through your neighbor’s window to borrow a cup of sugar right out of their pantry in Pittsburgh.
And although I am comfortable around North O, I think there’s no place better than Henry Doorly or Heartland of America Park (Gene Lehey when it’s clean is nice lol).

  39. plomax says:

I’ve been to Omaha a bunch of times. It’s both, but with a lot of corn, too. So. Much. Corn.

    • Alex says:

This is frustrating. There are very few corn fields actually IN Omaha. Yes, outside of it there is a lot of corn, but that is true for outside of most cities in the Midwest. If not corn, some other crop or farmland for livestock.

      • Minnesota says:

Stop, please. New Yorkers don’t eat corn or anything that grows on a farm. They get their food from the grocery store.

    • June says:

I have never once in my life been to a corn field or seen a running tractor. I’ve driven past them in small cities like fremont and kearny in Ne. I live in Omaha. So I pretty sure I would notice a cornfield in the middle of NoDo or South O or Dundee or…anywhere that’s anywhere.

  40. Kelsey says:

On the left is Counciltucky–I mean Council Bluffs. On the right is downtown Omaha

  41. Nathan says:

Funny story about the airport, its actually in Carter Lake, Ia! I don’t really know why they call it Omaha’s Epply Airfield….

  42. Social Realist says:

Who cares which is accurate??? It’s Omaha…

  43. mustakrakish says:

    still not impressive

  44. Alyssa says:

…Like everything else. Here in Texas, we’re depicted as living on wide open plains, milking cows for a living, and letting our kids ride horses to school. In reality, we have smelly downtown areas, and big cities just like a lot of places. Except we also have a bit more room to put it all.

  45. Tarah says:

I’ve lived in/very close to Omaha my whole life (21years), and I have to say… Both images are pretty accurate, just depends on where you are.

I will also say that it is pretty at night, with the lights and what not. Matter of opinion I suppose. Just enough buildings, while not over doing it.

  46. Amy says:

Oh dear God, so many who do not know Omaha! The photo on the right is facing south maybe southwest coming from the airport heading towards downtown. The rest of you who think Omaha is just the D-day landing need to learn to google things. North Omaha I guarantee people speak English, South they don’t. There is a lot more to Omaha than this, but the buildings on the left look more like Council Bluffs.

  47. wisest fool says:

true, omaha looks nothing like in the movies! i had to drive 4 hours before i found a suitable corn field to bury my victims! damn lying moogie producers

  48. New_Brony says:

I’m from Omaha, and I’ll tell you right now!!!

The former is more accurate than the epic-looking picture of the ONE tall building we have.
