In some countries, the only fuels available are premium 95 octane or 98 octane super special sell your testicle to fill a tank premium….but then those countries pay though the nose for that privilege, so it’s not really a privilege.
Anyways, it’s still more economical than the one with a jet engine or the one with the hummer engine.
Try to find me a legit batmobile that costs less than a smartcar. I dont think they can drop a motorcycle out of the back, or have guns and stuff. And are bulletproof.
Who drives an electric car ????
Are you allowed to go on the Autobahn with it ???
And when you need “gasoline” do you go to a gas station put in the plug and wait six hours till it’s loaded ????
You are the representative of the morons that are stopping the electric car revolution. I drive 50km (30mi) round trip to work. I would NEVER use gasoline to go to work if I had an electric. That would save me 150 dollars/month. I would also have a turbo diesel truck for those VERY RARE occasions when I need to drive more than 160km (100mi, the usual range of most commercially available electrics) or tow something.
Logic fail.
Also, to the responder that will inevitably cry “But the batteries! Oh horror the batteries!”… the prices will drop when morons stop thinking they can’t live with electrics and start buying them and they are made of recyclable materials.
I have actually looked in to this, and it coast are about the same as gas right now because it takes about $4 a day to charge it. Also you are using a gas of sort still, because they use fuel to make our electric. FAIL!
Actually, if you had even a grain of knowledge about electric cars, you would know that most of them actually generate their own electricity while driving.
12K in my state, no taxes in my state since they get an average of over 35 mpg, and the one I’m looking at takes normal gas (not premium). I see no price issues.
I wouldn’t EVER trust one on a highway and they suck when it comes to trunk space, but cost-wise? No problem.
Um…all smart cars require Premium fuel. It’s because the engine is so small.
You can put lesser fuel in it but it damages the engine and you loose a good bit of the mileage.
I just don’t understand the allure of these cars. They’re expensive and really don’t get all that great of gas mileage. I’d expect like 60 – 80mpg out of something this small, but they’re more around 30 – 40.
There are cars that cost the same, that are twice the size, have 3 – 5 times the horsepower and performance, that get the same or better gas mileage. What’s the point? So you can park in small places?
My nerd points are low today, but that doesn’t look like a bat signal to me, can someone help me out here? Assuming I am getting the joke that its supposed to be the new batmobile…
plus they take premium fuel
I was going to post the same thing, it’s surprising how few people know that the Smart cars require premium fuel.

It was a full sized sedan before Bat Girl tried parallel parking it.
Bazinga!

….derp.
They’re a little over 10k for the gas models where I live, but 44-freakin-k for the electric models.

they’re allowed, but you would be bonkers to try it
well bonkers unless your EV is an Opel Ampera sence that has a backup generator.
Actually, if you had even a grain of knowledge about electric cars, you would know that most of them actually generate their own electricity while driving.
their f***in expensive in australia 30k for one without a turbo or ragtop
Is that Australian Dollars?

I would trust the Smart Car, I wouldn’t trust the teenager in the giant SUV who’s texting while driving.

*Bat Economy*
In the same price range as the Smart Car you could buy a NEW
-Ford Fiesta
-Kia Soul
-Kia Rio
-Kia Rio 5-door
Spend $3,000 to $4,000 more and you could get a NEW
-Honda Civic
-Honda Fit
-Ford Fiesta
-2013 Dodge Dart (EPA rating not finished, 40 MPG is goal)
-Chevrolet Cruze (42 MPG highway)
If you buy a smart car for the fuel economy, you are not.
Looks pretty BAMF, though.
I had a Smart and used to average 75 mpg.
And I used to drive it on the motorway at 80mph.
Keywords being “had” and “used to.” Apparently Smart cars aren’t that great if you don’t have one anymore.
only the Eco version gets 42mpg
and you forgot the Sonic, the sedan starts at 13’000 hatch at 14’000 or so. Eco version starts at 16/17’000 and gets 40mpg
This^

Smarts are a lot easier to drive, trust me, even a monkey can efficiently drive those.
It´s 9028 €
I know America has a financial crisis going but come on …
