Just because the candy’s getting smaller, it doesn’t necessarily follow that you’re not getting bigger.

Especially if you’re eating all that candy.

  2. BRIITTTT says:

Chocolate is not candy. GET OUT

    • LokiFlux says:

Chocolate is a flavor and not candy. Candy that is chocolate flavored or made with chocolate… is candy. Cadbury eggs ARE considered candy. Chocolate bars known as Snickers, Milky Way, Wonka Bars, etc are also considered “Candy Bars”. Your limited definition is disheartening.

a : a confection made with sugar and often flavoring and filling
      b : a piece of such confection

But, it also depends on where in the world you are. Australia has different terms and so do several other areas. My point here is not to be close minded and assume everyone uses your definition when theirs may be valid as well.

        You’re just like etymology man… <3

      • sacchrainkiss says:

Chocolate is not a flavor, it is it’s own compound made from cocoa beans. If your eating candy that lists chocolate as a “flavor” not an ingredient, maybe you should consider shelling out more than 99c for it. “Chocolate flavored candy” is probably one of the most disgusting things on the market.

“Chocolate is not a flavor, it is it’s own compound made from cocoa beans.”

Used as flavoring for candy and other things. I didn’t know that it was necessary for me to define chocolate and everything related to chocolate in my post to get my point across without a smartarse coming in with an attempt to correct something that wasn’t a mistake. Let me correct you. Chocolate is used AS a flavor in many candies. You’re thinking “artificially flavored” by the way. If a candy is chocolate flavored, made WITH 100% chocolate, it’s still chocolate flavored. Chocolate is a flavor.

          1.
a preparation of the seeds of cacao, roasted, husked, and ground, often sweetened and flavored, as with vanilla.
          2.
a beverage made by dissolving such a preparation in milk or water, served hot or cold: a cup of hot chocolate.
          3.
candy made from such a preparation.
          4.
an individual piece of this candy.
          5.
any syrup or flavoring made from this preparation or artificially imitating its flavor.

Incidentally, this is further proof that chocolate is indeed candy.

Thy’re called sweets… And Creme Eggs are lovely, need to get me some.

  4. Kraedi says:

Yes but they have stayed 50 cents all these years, given the fact that the 2005 cadbury egg is probably worth more than 50 cents now, I think that a reduction in size is fair. It also helps moderate your fat ass.

  5. Lakey says:

Interesting. Since 2005 the American company Kraft has taken over Cadbury and immediately has set about ruining a successful, charitable and much loved company. Recently they announced they were to reduce the size of normal Cadbury bars as well. This along side moving more and more of the production to Eastern Europe. Greedy buggers!

    • Ignacio says:

Interesting, a few years ago Nestlé bought the largest chocolate factory of my country (D’Onofrio) and now all they sell is crap.

      • VickyLee says:

Funny, you think their stock would’ve dropped more with that product switch…

      • cheekyman says:

They did the same with Terrys and Rowntree Mackintosh in the UK

      • Phoenix says:

Interesting, Nestle use child slaves to pick the coco beans to make your own kids happy. I bet peoples kids wouldn’t be so happy eating the chocolate if they saw a 9 year old getting beaten for not working hard enough without getting paid a penny to make it.

  6. Kinseth says:

Who manages not to eat a Cadbury creme egg for two years?

  7. Clar says:

The Breyers cartoon shrinked as well, but not the price!

  8. ilovejam says:

Its cause the Asian market is increasing so the price of cocoa is on the rise…so to make costs smaller they make the bars smaller too!

  9. drew says:

    Weight is the same.

  10. madhatter says:

They also seemed to change the formula if no one noticed either..ie, they’re more condensed..er, less..ah ‘eggy’ inside and don’t taste as good as they once did..

  11. TC says:

He looks like he is comparing the regular sized egg to the ones that come in 12 packs.

  12. Problem? says:

Those cadbury eggs are why easter is so awesome.. :3

  13. TheClerk says:

As someone who works in a convenience store, I can tell you that Cadbury bars, Mars company bars, and Hershey bars have all been decreasing in size every year for the past five years, and dramatically increasing in price.

An 8-pack of mini Reese’s cups that used to cost $0.99 now costs almost $2.00 and goes on *sale* for $1.50. (good thing Hershey picked up and moved American jobs over to Mexico to save money and keep product costs down…oh wait no, prices went up anyway and we lost jobs).

The big Cadbury bars used to be 4 ounces at $1.50, but are now 3.5oz and $1.89.

I could handle the price increase better if they didn’t mess with the sizes. Especially the cadbury bars – they’re so thin now it’s like eating a chocolate wafer instead of a chocolate *bar*.

    • rosignol says:

      Inflation is happening.

Get ready for a re-run of the 70s, kids. Ask your parents what it was like if you weren’t around last time.

      goddamn bubble economy.

    • LokiFlux says:

Also, you work in a convenience store. The place where a candy bar that costs a buck anywhere else costs 2+ dollars. I literally just came back from a walk to the grocery store and stopped by the convenience store across the street. A snickers bar was 1.25 at the grocery and 2.25 at the convenience store. Convenience stores are legalized robbery, for the record.

      • amazon says:

Try coming over to Australia, the same choccie bars you have are 50% dearer, and yet our dollars are now on pariety. We have a factory in Aus and New Zealand, so its not shipping costs…..

Snickers bar full price in shops – $1.95
        Convenience stores usually around $2.80

        Coca cole 600mL – in shops $3.50
Convenience stores – $4.50 (often can get 2 for $7 tho)

  14. syd says:

    Novak is an ass!

  15. Soulnova says:

You guys know we are in a chocolate crisis, right? From cracked:

“The majority of the world’s cocoa supply comes from West Africa. (…) The fact of the matter is that, currently, cultivating cocoa beans just isn’t worth it to the average West African farmer.

Cocoa beans can be produced outside West Africa, but only within 10 degrees of the equator, an area that you might quickly recognize as including some of the most politically unstable regions on the planet. It would explain why chocolate prices have doubled in the last six years and will only continue to go up.”

Two years ago “Somebody Just Bought All the Chocolate in Europe”. This IS quite serious, which is why I suggest you to enjoy all the chocolate available while you can.

  16. Jessica says:

Who the fudge (yes pun intended) kept a cadbury creme egg from 2005?!!?

  17. TruthSpeaker says:

Actually, candy bars and things are getting smaller.

    http://www.boston.com/Boston/dailydose/2012/02/snickers-and-other-mars-candy-bars-slim-down/h36UmYYNw1jYTX4cN70pjJ/index.html

Chances are the prices will stay the same or raise.

  18. Joe Rude says:

    NOOOOOO!!!
